Resident Evil Requiem’s upcoming story DLC will explore Oswell E. Spencer in greater detail, according to one of the game’s writers. Haris Orkin said during an interview at Meadowlark Comic Con that Requiem already establishes an arc for Spencer and that players will understand it further in the expansion. Orkin then acknowledged that he “probably shouldn’t” have revealed the detail, making the comment one of the clearest indications yet of what Capcom’s planned DLC will cover.

Orkin worked as a writer on Resident Evil Requiem and previously contributed to Resident Evil Village’s Shadows of Rose expansion. During the interview, he said Requiem gives players an understanding of Spencer’s arc before adding that the DLC will develop it further. Capcom has already confirmed that additional story content for Requiem is in development, but the company has not formally announced a title, release date or full narrative premise for the expansion.

The reference is significant because Oswell E. Spencer remains one of the central figures in Resident Evil’s wider mythology. Spencer co-founded Umbrella Corporation and played a fundamental role in the research and ideology that ultimately led to the series’ biological weapons and outbreaks. Although his direct appearances have historically been limited, his influence extends across much of Resident Evil’s overarching story.

Requiem brings Spencer and Umbrella’s legacy back into sharper focus, making him more than a background figure in the franchise’s history. That creates a natural foundation for an expansion that revisits unanswered questions surrounding his motivations and actions. Orkin’s wording suggests the DLC will build directly on material established in the base game rather than introducing an entirely disconnected storyline.

Recent comments from Resident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi have also emphasized Capcom’s effort to strengthen connections between newer numbered games and the franchise’s older continuity. The company has been bringing recurring locations, characters and organizations back into prominence while continuing to develop remakes alongside new mainline entries. A reported Resident Evil Veronica remake targeting 2027 could further expand that overlap between the series’ past and current storyline, although Capcom has not confirmed that project’s reported timing.

There has already been speculation that Requiem’s story DLC could revisit Spencer Mansion, the location at the center of the original Resident Evil. Orkin did not confirm that rumor, however, and his comments only establish that Spencer’s story will receive more attention. Specific claims about locations, playable characters or the structure of the expansion therefore remain unverified until Capcom provides additional information.

Spencer’s role is particularly important because his established characterization has shaped much of Resident Evil’s history. His obsession with human evolution and immortality ultimately influenced Umbrella’s experiments, while later games revealed more about his relationship with Albert Wesker and the origins of the company. Requiem’s renewed focus on the character gives Capcom an opportunity to expand or reinterpret parts of that history without abandoning the modern storyline.

Orkin’s involvement also gives the comment more weight than an ordinary leak or rumor. He is officially credited as a writer on Resident Evil Requiem, meaning the information comes from someone directly involved with the game’s narrative development. His immediate reaction after mentioning the DLC suggests the Spencer connection was information Capcom had not yet planned to make public.

Capcom has not responded publicly to Orkin’s remarks or provided a timetable for a full DLC reveal. The expansion’s release window, pricing and playable content therefore remain unknown. For now, the clearest confirmed narrative direction comes from Orkin himself: Spencer’s arc does not end with Resident Evil Requiem’s base story, and the upcoming DLC is expected to provide additional context around one of the franchise’s most important figures.
