2022 was a remarkable year for the gaming industry, offering many standout titles. Among them was FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, which quickly gained popularity due to its challenging gameplay, impressive visuals, and intricate mechanics.

The game got so much success that it prompted FromSoftware to release a DLC titled “Shadow of the Erdtree,” a massive expansion for Elden Ring set for release this month on the 21st.

However, the content of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC might be more substantial than initially anticipated, as it has been revealed that the DLC will require around 16.5GB of space on the PS5, surpassing the entire size of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which was around 12.5GB.

Why it matters: Elden Ring was the biggest game of 2022, winning the Game of the Year Award despite strong competition from other titles like God of War Ragnarok. A DLC for such a highly acclaimed game is crucial for enhancing players’ experience.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, another praised FromSoftware game, offered a lot of content for its size. The fact that Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is larger than Sekiro is quite impressive. Additionally, Elden Ring itself had a size of around 45GB on the PS5, and the DLC’s 16.5GB size, being almost 40% of the base game, suggests a substantial amount of new content.

While it was previously confirmed that Shadow of the Erdtree would be FromSoftware’s largest DLC to date, it’s still surprising that they managed to add so much content, making it bigger than the entire game of Sekiro.

The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring will be available on all platforms where the base game was released. The standard edition is priced at $39.99, which may seem high for a DLC, but it is expected to justify its price tag with substantial content. In addition to the standard edition, a premium and collector’s edition will also be available for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

This news has us excited for the upcoming expansion for Elden Ring. We eagerly anticipate the new content it will bring to the Elden Ring universe.

We’re also curious about the new bosses in the game, but if they are anything like Malenia, we might need ‘LetMeSoloHer’ to assist us.
