Digital Extremes has confirmed that Soulframe, its upcoming open-world cooperative fantasy action RPG, will become freely accessible to all PC players on November 6, 2026. The launch of Soulframe Open Preludes removes the invitation requirement that has restricted access to the game’s ongoing alpha testing, allowing anyone to participate without purchasing a Founders Pack.
The Warframe developer announced the date during Soulframe Devstream 18 on October 30, alongside details of Preludes 17: Verse of the Veilands, a substantial update scheduled for later in November. The update introduces rideable wolf companions, a new environmental progression system, additional combat abilities, weapons and activities.
Soulframe has been undergoing limited alpha testing since December 2023, with access primarily distributed through invitations, referral codes and optional Founders purchases. Digital Extremes initially announced plans to open testing to everyone on October 15 but did not provide a specific launch date until its latest developer broadcast.

Starting November 6, players can create an account through the official Soulframe website, download Digital Extremes’ launcher and begin playing on Windows PC. An invitation or payment will no longer be necessary.
Open Preludes remains an early alpha playtest rather than Soulframe’s full release. The November 6 opening does not include a Steam launch or console versions. Although the game has a Steam store page for wishlisting, players must use its standalone PC launcher to access the alpha.
The optional Founders program will also remain available, offering exclusive Pacts, weapons, armor and other rewards to players who want to support development.
Soulframe emphasizes melee-focused fantasy combat, exploration and cooperative gameplay. Its existing alpha includes story-driven quests called Fables, equipment crafting, weapon progression, character customization and activities throughout the world of Alca.
The removal of access restrictions will allow new players to experience this existing content while Digital Extremes continues developing the game’s systems through regular Preludes updates.
Preludes 17: Verse of the Veilands will introduce a new environmental world progression system centered on reclaiming regions affected by the invading Ode forces.
After completing The Tormented Stag Fable, players will encounter corrupted areas across Alca’s overworld. The Veilands system introduces objectives tied to clearing that corruption, giving players additional activities connected to the state of the surrounding environment.
Another major addition is the ability to raise wolf pups into rideable Omen Wolf mounts. Players must complete their wolf companion’s training and purify two Veilands regions before crafting a special item called a Bairnday Biscuit. Feeding the biscuit to the trained wolf allows it to mature into a mount that can be ridden across the world.
Digital Extremes has indicated that the mount system will continue evolving through future updates.
The update also introduces Ode Shrike, a new character Pact built around trapping and controlling enemies. Its abilities include deployable spike traps, balloon darts that lift opponents, bola chains that link damage between targets and an evasive throwing bomb.
Additional weapons, equipment and progression changes will expand the available combat options.
Verse of the Veilands will also bring new activities, including the return of the seasonal Bita’s Eve event. Players can search for Wintersquash patches, encounter the headless horserider mini-boss Veltruska and obtain limited-time rewards. Fishing additions include a new catch called Sunken Terror.
Digital Extremes plans to release Preludes 17 later in November, after Open Preludes begins on November 6. The developer has not announced a final release date for Soulframe.
The opening places Soulframe among several upcoming PC RPGs expanding their playable early-development builds, including ArcheAge Chronicles, which is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access on November 3. Unlike a conventional Early Access release, however, Soulframe’s Open Preludes remains a free alpha test intended to gather feedback while development continues.
For PC players, November 6 marks the first opportunity to access Soulframe’s ongoing alpha without obtaining an invitation, while the upcoming Verse of the Veilands update will expand the world and progression systems available during testing.
