Shoreline Games and developer Metis Creative have announced WANE, an industrial-noir occult RPG coming to PC via Steam. Revealed during PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026, the game combines grid-based turn-based combat with roguelike expeditions and a narrative built around the deteriorating memories of an archaeologist named Declan Wayne. A release date has not yet been announced.
WANE takes place inside Ravelle, a cerebral realm formed from Declan’s fractured memories, regrets and obsessions. Rather than functioning as a conventional fantasy world, Ravelle is presented as a shifting labyrinth shaped by the protagonist’s past, with repeated expeditions gradually exposing more of his history. Metis Creative is using that structure to connect the game’s roguelike loop directly to its narrative rather than treating individual runs as disconnected attempts.
Players will recruit adventurers and assemble parties of three before descending into Ravelle. Combat takes place on a grid and emphasizes positioning, cover and line of sight, while attacks are governed partly by percentage-based accuracy. Runs are also affected by attrition, random encounters and boss battles, placing pressure on players to manage their party over the course of an expedition instead of approaching each fight in isolation.

Ravelle is divided into three major biomes, each connected to different parts of Declan’s memories and the history surrounding the setting. The areas revealed so far are the Ravellian Sanatorium, the Palace of Arvanshah and the Death Pilgrimage to Erabel. Shoreline Games says the environments will change as Declan’s memories deteriorate, allowing the structure of the world itself to reflect his declining mental state.
Between expeditions, players return to Declan’s antiquarian shop, which acts as WANE’s main progression hub. Relics recovered during runs can be appraised and sold, with the proceeds used to upgrade facilities and finance future expeditions. Permanent buffs, new synergies and shortcuts become available over time, giving failed or incomplete runs a role in improving later attempts.
The shop also creates a second layer of decision-making beyond combat. Resources collected underground are not simply converted into equipment immediately, with players instead managing the proceeds from recovered artifacts and deciding how best to strengthen the expedition operation. That economic loop is designed to feed directly back into the tactical side of the game while maintaining the repeated-run structure.
WANE marks Metis Creative’s move into a new type of project after the studio established itself through tabletop role-playing games. The company has previously worked on projects including the Historica Arcanum series, while its broader creative team has also been connected to digital narrative development through Metaphor Games. Shoreline Games is publishing WANE and has described the project as an extension of Metis Creative’s focus on distinctive visual design and story-heavy worlds.
The game’s industrial-noir presentation mixes occult imagery with environments inspired by machinery, decaying institutions and old civilizations. Its announcement trailer shows armed party members moving through dimly lit interiors, confronting supernatural enemies and navigating spaces built from fragments of Ravelle’s past. The emphasis appears to be as much on the psychological setting and characters as on the tactical systems themselves.
WANE is currently confirmed only for PC via Steam, with no release date announced. The combination of three-person tactical combat, changing memory-driven environments, roguelike progression and an antiquarian-shop economy gives Metis Creative a distinct framework for its first revealed project of this type. Shoreline Games says additional details will be shared as development continues.
