Microsoft has revealed the second September 2026 wave of Xbox Game Pass additions, with Gears of War: E-Day, Minecraft Dungeons II and Dune: Awakening leading a packed lineup stretching into early October. The new batch begins immediately with RuneScape: Dragonwilds on September 15 and ultimately runs through Gears of War: E-Day on October 6. Several of the games are joining Game Pass on their launch day, while others are moving into additional subscription tiers.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is available from September 15 across cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC for Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass members. The cooperative survival game sends players to Ashenfall, where they gather resources, craft equipment, build settlements and prepare to confront dragons. Its arrival was already included among September’s first Game Pass wave, but Microsoft has carried it into the latest roundup as the immediately available starting point.
September 16 brings four more additions. Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Planet of Lana II, Routine and Ultimate Sheep Raccoon are all joining Game Pass Premium while also remaining available through Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The group spans a Marvel beat ’em up, cinematic puzzle-platforming, first-person sci-fi horror and a multiplayer obstacle-course racing game.

Kernel Hearts arrives September 17 as a day-one Game Pass release for Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The action RPG and roguelike hybrid supports optional cooperative multiplayer and centers on four playable magical characters climbing the Tower of Babel. Ninja Gaiden 4 also expands into Game Pass Premium that day, joining its existing Ultimate and PC Game Pass availability.
Dune: Awakening follows on September 22 across cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld and PC for Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass. Funcom’s open-world survival RPG combines base construction, crafting, exploration and multiplayer progression on Arrakis. Well Dweller launches the same day as a day-one Ultimate and PC Game Pass title, offering a darker fairy-tale metroidvania starring a small bird armed with a matchstick.
Mad King Redemption joins on September 23, blending beat ’em up combat with roguelite progression in a 2.5D pixel-art world. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 then moves into Game Pass Premium on September 25, broadening access to its campaign, multiplayer and round-based Zombies. Rematch is also being added to Game Pass Essential on September 25, while remaining part of the higher tiers and PC Game Pass.
One of the month’s biggest launches arrives on September 29 with Minecraft Dungeons II. Mojang Studios’ sequel will be available day one through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass across cloud, console, handheld and PC. The game introduces a new dimension called the Sift, additional enemies and expanded equipment customization while retaining the cooperative action-RPG structure of the original Minecraft Dungeons.
Keeper joins the service on October 2, followed by Gears of War: E-Day on October 6. E-Day will launch day one through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass across Xbox Series X|S, handheld, PC and cloud, telling an origin story set 14 years before the original Gears of War. Players follow Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during the first Locust invasion, with the game also featuring Horde Siege and competitive multiplayer alongside its campaign.
E-Day has already generated attention ahead of launch through its achievement structure, including a Platinum-style achievement for earning every other achievement in the game. Its October 6 Game Pass arrival gives Microsoft’s September Wave 2 announcement an unusually large closing release rather than ending strictly within the calendar month.
Microsoft also confirmed several Game Pass-related updates outside the main additions. EA Sports FC 27 receives an EA Play early access trial on September 18, while Sea of Thieves Season 21 launches September 17 with a free-play period running through September 21. Brawlhalla players across every Game Pass tier will also receive an in-game benefits pack beginning September 17.
Eight games are scheduled to leave Game Pass on September 30: Atomfall, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition, Little Rocket Lab, Sifu, SOPA Tale of the Stolen Potato, Sworn and Terminull Brigade. The new wave therefore combines several major day-one launches with tier expansions and catalog removals as Microsoft closes out September and moves into October.
