Moon Studios has delayed the full 1.0 release of No Rest for the Wicked from October 2026 to March 2027. The developer confirmed the new window in an official announcement on September 1, saying the additional development time will be used to improve performance, refine the class system and polish the action RPG ahead of its departure from Early Access.
The studio said it is close to completing the 1.0 version but does not believe the game is ready to launch at the standard it wants to meet. Moon Studios described itself as a small team and said it would rather spend several additional months on development than release a version it considers unfinished. The delay moves the launch roughly five months beyond the October window announced earlier this year.
Part of that additional time will be spent testing the game with players. Moon Studios plans to conduct more closed and open beta tests over the coming months, including an open beta scheduled for December. The developer said feedback from those sessions will help shape the final 1.0 build, with further information on testing and development set to be shared through its official channels.
No Rest for the Wicked has been available through Steam Early Access since April 18, 2024, allowing Moon Studios to expand and revise the game with community feedback before its full release. In June, the developer announced that version 1.0 would launch in October 2026 on PC and PlayStation 5, while Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions were planned for later dates. The latest announcement changes that launch window to March 2027, with PlayStation pre-orders now set to begin in January.
Version 1.0 is intended to represent a significant expansion over the current Early Access build rather than a routine update. Moon Studios previously said the full game would include more than 60 hours of new content and around 100 hours overall for players engaging with both solo and multiplayer activities. Planned additions include new regions, weapons, bosses and enemies, a reworked class and progression system, persistent multiplayer realms, endgame activities and the final section of the game’s story.
The class system is one of the specific areas Moon Studios cited when explaining the delay. The developer previously outlined plans to replace the existing attribute approach with a more flexible progression system designed to allow characters using similar equipment to develop into substantially different builds. Moon Studios now says the additional months will give it more time to tighten that system alongside broader performance and polish work.
The delay also changes eligibility for the game’s Founders Pack. Anyone who purchases No Rest for the Wicked on Steam before January 1, 2027 will now receive the Founders rewards, extending eligibility beyond the earlier cutoff. PlayStation 5 players will also have an opportunity to receive those rewards when pre-orders begin in January 2027.
Previously announced Founders rewards include the Spirit Cavern hideout, the Sayer’s Vow weapon, a special Founder’s Tag and continued access to a dedicated testing realm after the full game launches. Moon Studios introduced the package as a reward for players supporting No Rest for the Wicked during its Early Access development, and the delay effectively gives PC players several additional months to qualify.
Moon Studios also plans to hold another Wicked Inside developer presentation, although it has not yet announced a date. The studio said more details about the game’s progress will be shared over the coming weeks as it moves toward the December open beta and eventual 1.0 release.
The March 2027 launch will mark nearly three years since No Rest for the Wicked first entered Steam Early Access. For now, Moon Studios is using the extended development period to test the final version more extensively and finish the systems that will accompany the game’s transition to a full release.
