KRAFTON and 5minlab have revealed WPCA: World Phasebound Control Authority, a new supernatural action RPG coming to PlayStation 5 and PC. Sony confirmed during its September 3 State of Play that the PS5 version is planned for 2028, while the game’s Steam page currently lists its PC release date as to be announced. WPCA combines large-scale monster hunting with fast combat, character customization and support for solo or three-player online co-op.
Set in Seoul, the game casts players as an agent working for the World Phasebound Control Authority’s local branch. The organization is responsible for confronting supernatural phenomena that have manifested as creatures known as Phasebound Horrors. Players enter containment zones where those anomalies have begun distorting ordinary reality, with each mission built around neutralizing the threat before it spreads further.
The creatures themselves form the center of WPCA’s combat structure. 5minlab describes the game as having an “Epic Boss Rush” focus, with Phasebound Horrors designed as unpredictable enemies that can reach enormous scales and operate outside conventional physical rules. The reveal footage shows agents fighting creatures considerably larger than themselves while navigating environments transformed by the anomalies.

Combat emphasizes movement and direct control rather than fixed combat roles. Players can perform attacks capable of cutting through space, manipulate the battlefield and exploit enemy weaknesses, while some abilities can physically reposition large monsters. The developers are positioning these systems around aggressive action and repeated encounters where learning how each anomaly behaves should be as important as raw character strength.
Progression extends beyond simply increasing statistics. Defeating Phasebound Horrors provides materials that can be used to craft Interferometer Weapons, creating a direct connection between hunting monsters and preparing for subsequent encounters. Builds can then be further shaped through weapon mechanics, skills, passive effects and randomized equipment properties.
That customization is intended to support different approaches without requiring traditional multiplayer party compositions. WPCA can be played alone, but online co-op allows up to three players to tackle hunts together. 5minlab says groups will not need to build around mandatory roles, with individual combat performance and customized loadouts taking precedence over rigid class requirements.
Players will also be able to move between solo and cooperative play rather than committing to one format for the entire game. The Steam listing describes online co-op alongside full single-player support, suggesting the core hunting structure is being designed to function in either configuration. Exactly how matchmaking, mission scaling and shared progression will work has not yet been explained.
The setting gives WPCA a contemporary urban-fantasy identity rather than placing its supernatural threats in a traditional fantasy world. Seoul serves as the operational backdrop for the World Phasebound Control Authority, while containment zones transform familiar spaces into locations shaped by the creatures inhabiting them. The concept allows 5minlab to contrast recognizable modern environments with increasingly surreal monsters and phenomena.
5minlab is a KRAFTON subsidiary whose previous work includes Smash Legends, but WPCA represents a significantly different project in scale and structure. The studio has been staffing development positions specifically for World Phasebound Control Authority, while KRAFTON is listed alongside 5minlab as a publisher on the game’s Steam presence. The project expands KRAFTON’s lineup with a new internally developed IP rather than an established franchise.
Several aspects remain undecided or unannounced. Neither KRAFTON nor 5minlab has provided a specific 2028 PS5 release date, and Steam continues to list the PC version as TBA. Xbox and Nintendo versions have not been announced, while details about the narrative, playable agents, total number of containment zones and long-term endgame structure remain limited.
WPCA: World Phasebound Control Authority is currently confirmed for PlayStation 5 and PC, with the PS5 version targeted for 2028. Its first major showing establishes a boss-focused action RPG centered on supernatural containment missions, customizable weapons and flexible three-player co-op, with 5minlab planning to reveal more about its distorted version of Seoul as development continues.
