Call of Duty’s annual Halloween event, The Haunting, is returning for Black Ops 7 and Warzone, with the first trailer scheduled to arrive on September 8 at 8 AM PT. Call of Duty specialist CharlieIntel reported the reveal timing on September 7, while a scheduled trailer link has also begun circulating ahead of the premiere. Activision has not yet published the full Season 6 roadmap or detailed exactly what this year’s Haunting will contain.

The return comes as Black Ops 7 approaches its sixth season, which is expected to be the game’s final major seasonal update before the next Call of Duty release. The current Season 5 Battle Pass timer points to September 17 as the likely start of Season 6, although Activision has not yet formally confirmed that date. The September 8 trailer should therefore provide the first substantial official look at what players can expect from the closing stretch of Black Ops 7’s seasonal cycle.

The Haunting has traditionally served as Call of Duty’s major Halloween event, bringing darker versions of existing maps alongside horror-themed modes, Operators and limited-time rewards. Its 2025 incarnation ran across Black Ops 6 and Warzone, adding Halloween variants of Verdansk and Rebirth Island as well as Zombie Royale and other undead-focused activities. That update also leaned heavily into horror crossovers, with characters including Jason, Chucky and Predator appearing during the season.

What will carry over into the Black Ops 7 version remains unknown. Activision has not yet confirmed any horror licenses, returning modes, themed maps or seasonal Operators for the 2026 event, so previous Haunting content should not be taken as evidence of this year’s lineup. Earlier reports and leaks have suggested that The Haunting would form a major part of Season 6, but the upcoming trailer is expected to provide the first clear marketing push for the event.

Warzone will again be part of the rollout, giving the seasonal event a presence beyond Black Ops 7’s Multiplayer and Zombies content. Raven Software has continued expanding Warzone throughout the Black Ops 7 cycle, including playlist changes such as the upcoming addition of Solos to Black Ops Royale. The Haunting historically makes some of its biggest changes on the battle royale side, where nighttime map conversions and zombie-based modes can significantly alter normal matches.

Black Ops 7 itself is currently in Season 5 Reloaded, which added its final main Zombies chapter alongside new Multiplayer content and additional weapons. Treyarch has continued rotating older Black Ops ideas back into the game across its seasons, including the teased return of the Black Ops 2 map Plaza earlier in the year. The Haunting will likely serve as another major seasonal refresh, although its exact Multiplayer and Zombies components remain unannounced.

Last year’s event offers some indication of the scale Activision typically targets. The 2025 Haunting introduced new Multiplayer maps and variants, Halloween-themed Zombies content, Warzone map changes, several weapons and attachments, themed events and a seasonal Battle Pass. However, Activision can substantially change the structure from year to year, particularly when The Haunting coincides with the final season of an annual Call of Duty title.

The earlier timing is also notable. Previous Haunting events have often stretched into October, but Black Ops 7’s apparent Season 6 schedule places this year’s rollout in September. That would give Activision room to complete the final major Black Ops 7 season before shifting more attention toward the next Call of Duty release later in the fall.

For now, the only newly surfaced details are the return of The Haunting across Black Ops 7 and Warzone and the September 8 trailer timing. The reveal is scheduled for 8 AM PT, or 11 AM ET, and should clarify whether The Haunting launches alongside Season 6, which horror collaborations are involved and what changes are coming to Multiplayer, Zombies and Warzone.
