Activision has clarified how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s new Xbox 25th Anniversary weapon blueprint works across platforms. Players who digitally pre-order the game on Xbox Series X|S will see the Inner Circuit M4 Blueprint with a translucent green design inspired by classic Xbox hardware. On PlayStation 5, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, the same blueprint instead appears with a more conventional mil-spec visual treatment.

The distinction applies not only to the version a player receives, but also to how the weapon appears during cross-platform matches. If a PC player encounters someone using the Inner Circuit M4 on Xbox Series X|S, the PC player will see the mil-spec version while the Xbox player continues to see the translucent green anniversary design. Activision says only players on Xbox Series X|S can see the 25th Anniversary treatment, and the appearance cannot be manually selected.

Both versions are functionally identical despite the cosmetic difference. The Inner Circuit M4 uses the same weapon build, attachments and gameplay characteristics regardless of platform, meaning Xbox players do not receive a statistical advantage from the anniversary version. Only the visual treatment changes depending on the platform where the blueprint is being viewed.

The translucent design is intended as a tribute to Xbox’s 25th anniversary and takes inspiration from the transparent green hardware associated with the original Xbox era. The weapon exposes internal components beneath its green shell, with Xbox branding incorporated into the design. Players on PlayStation 5, Steam, Battle.net, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox on PC instead receive the alternate mil-spec appearance.

The blueprint is being offered as a digital pre-order bonus for Modern Warfare 4. Players who pre-order any digital edition receive the Inner Circuit M4 alongside the game’s other pre-order incentives, although the green anniversary presentation remains exclusive to Xbox Series X|S consoles. Activision also specifies that Xbox on PC does not qualify for the translucent Xbox version despite being part of Microsoft’s ecosystem.

The M4 blueprint comes equipped with five attachments. It uses the 11.5-inch Shortline Barrel to improve handling and mobility, the FTAC Dominion Muzzle to control vertical and horizontal recoil, and the FSS Fireline Grip to stabilize sustained fire. The SZ Prima-4 Dot Optic provides the sight, while the ZLR ASP50 Stock reduces weight and improves movement.

Activision describes the configuration as suited to close- and mid-range engagements, with the shorter barrel and stock prioritizing responsiveness over longer-range effectiveness. The blueprint is therefore more than a cosmetic skin, as it arrives as a ready-made M4 configuration that can be used immediately at launch. The underlying setup remains exactly the same across every supported platform.

The clarification comes as Infinity Ward continues adjusting Modern Warfare 4 ahead of release. Recent testing has included changes such as a reduction to aim assist during the beta and a broader movement overhaul that removes Tactical Sprint from the default movement system. Those gameplay changes are separate from the Inner Circuit promotion, which is purely tied to the game’s digital pre-order campaign.

Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, Battle.net, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Infinity Ward is leading development, while Beenox is supporting the PC version and Digital Legends is working with Infinity Ward on the native Switch 2 release.

For the Inner Circuit M4 specifically, the platform rule is straightforward: Xbox Series X|S players see the translucent green 25th Anniversary design, while every other supported platform sees the mil-spec version. The weapon itself remains identical in performance and attachments regardless of where it is used.
