LEVEL-5 has confirmed that Yo-kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain will also launch for PlayStation 5 and PC, expanding the remake beyond the Nintendo Switch 2 version announced a day earlier. The additional platforms were revealed during LEVEL5 VISION 2026 II on September 10. A release date has still not been announced.
Haunted Domain was initially unveiled during the September 9 Nintendo Direct, where only Nintendo Switch 2 was listed. That announcement confirmed LEVEL-5 was rebuilding Yo-kai Watch 2 with completely overhauled graphics while retaining the core appeal of the original RPG. The studio also said it was developing additional story content and new Yo-kai for the remake.
The latest platform announcement therefore changes the picture considerably. Players will no longer need Nintendo hardware to access Haunted Domain, with PS5 and PC now joining Switch 2 in the confirmed lineup. The move also gives the returning Yo-kai Watch series a substantially broader potential audience than the initial Nintendo Direct reveal suggested.
The original Yo-kai Watch 2 launched for Nintendo 3DS in Japan in 2014 as Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls, with the expanded Psychic Specters version following later. Western releases arrived afterward, introducing players outside Japan to another adventure centered on befriending supernatural Yo-kai and resolving strange incidents around town. Haunted Domain is being positioned as a modern remake of that second mainline entry rather than a completely new numbered sequel.
LEVEL-5 has already confirmed several additions beyond the visual overhaul. New story material and additional Yo-kai are being developed, while the brief footage shown so far indicates that familiar characters including Nate and Jibanyan will return. The company has not yet explained how content from Bony Spirits, Fleshy Souls and Psychic Specters will be divided or combined in the new version.
The remake’s return is particularly notable because Yo-kai Watch has had a limited presence outside Japan in recent years. Earlier games became closely associated with Nintendo handhelds, while later entries did not receive the same broad Western release pattern. Haunted Domain appears intended to reintroduce one of LEVEL-5’s most recognizable franchises to a wider international audience.
Its newly expanded platform lineup reinforces that direction. The game was only confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 when it was first revealed, making the PS5 and PC versions a genuine expansion rather than information that was simply omitted from an older announcement. LEVEL-5 has not announced an Xbox Series version at this stage.
The PC release is also significant for a series historically tied heavily to Nintendo systems. Bringing Haunted Domain to PC opens the remake to players who may not have followed the franchise through its handheld years, while PS5 adds another major console audience. LEVEL-5 has not yet detailed whether there will be cross-save functionality or any platform-specific differences.
For now, the company’s focus remains on development rather than launch timing. The initial teaser warned that the project would take some time, and LEVEL-5 has not narrowed that down with a year, season or specific release date. Pricing, editions and final technical specifications also remain unannounced.
What is now clear is that Yo-kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain will not be confined to Switch 2. LEVEL-5 is developing the remake for PS5 and PC as well, while continuing to expand the original Yo-kai Watch 2 with updated graphics, additional story content and new Yo-kai. More details on the remake’s content and release schedule are expected as development progresses.
