Fortnite OG is reportedly bringing back the Season X version of Kevin the Cube’s floating island in its next update. Fortnite account SpushFNBR shared the claim while crediting leaker YvetalLeaks, pointing to another recognizable Chapter 1 location being restored as OG moves deeper into Season X. Epic Games has not officially confirmed the island’s return, so the information should currently be treated as a leak.
The timing fits Fortnite OG’s ongoing Season X rollout. Epic has already launched the season with its Reality Wave concept, bringing Rift Zones and other returning Chapter 1 elements back to the OG Island, while additional map changes are expected as the season progresses. A Fortnite OG Season X Discovery banner also surfaced before launch as Epic began teasing the final Chapter 1 season.
Kevin’s floating island originally became one of Fortnite’s most recognizable landmarks during Chapter 1 Season 6. The island was formed when Kevin lifted the central Loot Lake island into the air, carrying the house and surrounding terrain above the map while a purple vortex remained beneath it. The floating location subsequently moved around the island before Kevin’s storyline progressed toward the Butterfly event.
Season X later brought a modified version of that location back through the season’s time-distortion storyline. Unlike the original Season 6 version, the Season X floating island incorporated additional objects and structures pulled together from Fortnite’s past, including parts associated with the old Motel. It also moved around the map again rather than remaining fixed to one point, making it another example of Season X remixing earlier Chapter 1 locations instead of simply restoring them unchanged.
That distinction is important to the current leak, which specifically points to the Season X version of the island rather than the earlier Season 6 form. Fortnite OG already recreated Kevin’s original floating-island storyline during its Season 6 cycle in 2025, so bringing back the later variant would allow Epic to revisit the location without simply repeating exactly the same version players saw less than a year ago.
Season X is built around precisely that kind of instability. Epic describes the season as a period in which reality is bending and timelines are colliding, with Reality Waves transforming existing locations into Rift Zones. Another leak has already indicated that Gotham City is returning to Fortnite OG as part of the next major map update, reflecting the original Season X approach of replacing familiar areas with radically different versions.
The original 2019 Season X rotated several major locations through Rift Zones and time-based anomalies. Dusty Depot returned, Tilted Towers transformed into Tilted Town, Retail Row came back with Cube Monsters, and other areas changed as the Zero Point destabilized reality. Kevin’s floating island returned during that period as well, appearing above different parts of the map before the season concluded with The End.
The leaked return would therefore be consistent with Epic’s effort to recreate the broad progression of Chapter 1 while still making adjustments to Fortnite OG’s modern timeline. Epic has not said whether the island will follow its original Season X movement pattern, appear at the same locations, or receive any new gameplay changes. Its exact arrival time within the upcoming update also remains unconfirmed.
Fortnite OG Season X is currently entering another significant update cycle, with multiple map changes and returning Chapter 1 elements expected. If the leaked files accurately reflect Epic’s plans, Kevin the Cube’s floating island will soon join that rotation in its Season X form. Until Epic publishes the update or the location appears in-game, however, its return remains based on datamined information rather than an official announcement.
