Fortnite OG Season X is reportedly bringing Gotham City back to the Chapter 1 island on September 17. Fortnite leaker SpushFNBR says the Batman-themed location will return with the next OG map update, continuing Season X’s recreation of the Rift Zone changes that repeatedly transformed familiar points of interest during the original 2019 season. Epic Games has not yet published an announcement confirming the September 17 return, so the timing should still be treated as leaked information.
Gotham City’s return has been expected since before OG Season X launched earlier this month. Pre-release information indicated that the location would arrive later in the season rather than appearing immediately when OG Season X launched with Fortnite v42.10 on September 3. The reported September 17 update would therefore represent the first major mid-season transformation of the Tilted area under the current OG schedule.
The location originally appeared during Chapter 1 Season X as part of Fortnite’s Batman crossover in September 2019. A Rift Zone transformed Tilted Town into Gotham City, replacing its Wild West presentation with Batman-themed streets and buildings. Epic also gave players unlimited Glider Redeploy while they were inside the POI, letting them use a Batman cape animation to move around the dense urban environment more freely.

That original update also introduced two Batman Mythic items. The Batman Grapnel Gun launched players toward its point of impact before automatically deploying the Bat Cape, while the Explosive Batarang could home toward nearby enemies or stick to surfaces and function as a proximity explosive. Pre-release information surrounding the current OG season has pointed to both items returning alongside Gotham City, although Epic has not yet confirmed their September 17 availability.
Season X is specifically structured around Rift Zones altering the OG island as the season progresses. Epic described the season as one where reality is bending and timelines are colliding, with familiar locations transforming as Reality Waves move across the map. That structure recreates one of the defining elements of the original Season X rather than simply preserving a single Chapter 1 map for the entire season.
Gotham City would also continue a gradual rollout that started when the OG Season X Discovery banner surfaced before launch, followed by Epic’s official Season X release. The season brought back the B.R.U.T.E. mech, Automatic Sniper Rifle and other Chapter 1 content while setting up additional Rift Zone changes for later updates. Epic has already released balance and bug fixes since launch, including an OG Season X hotfix affecting the Pump Shotgun, Storm Flip and several other systems.
The reported Gotham update is separate from Fortnite’s current Batman content elsewhere in the game. Epic introduced new Batman-themed material to Battle Royale earlier in 2026, including a Bat Cave location, Batman Grapnel Gun, Batman Sprite and additional DC cosmetics. OG’s Gotham City is instead based on the original Chapter 1 Season X crossover and is intended to recreate that specific version of the location.
It is not yet clear whether the returning POI will be completely identical to its 2019 counterpart or receive adjustments for Fortnite OG. Epic has made selective changes to some returning content rather than reproducing every original behavior exactly, particularly where modern balance or technical considerations are involved. The company has also not confirmed how long Gotham City will remain on the island once it arrives.
For now, the strongest indication is that Gotham City will replace the current Tilted-area configuration on September 17 as Fortnite OG Season X continues its Rift Zone progression. The exact returning loot, movement rules and Batman items should become clearer once Epic publishes the update or the changes go live.
