Activision and Infinity Ward have released a new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign trailer during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast, providing a deeper look at Captain Price’s increasingly isolated war and the larger conflict unfolding across the Korean Peninsula. The trailer expands on story details first introduced with the game’s reveal, including Price’s conflict with former Task Force 141 allies, his uneasy partnership with Valeria Garza and a mysterious weapon being moved toward an enemy known as the Archer. Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, with campaign early access beginning October 16 for eligible digital pre-orders.
Price enters Modern Warfare 4 as a fugitive following his assassination of General Shepherd at the end of Modern Warfare III. Task Force 141 has been disbanded, and the new trailer emphasizes the fractures that decision created within the group. Ghost now questions Price’s methods, while Ghost and Gaz have been ordered to capture or kill their former captain. CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell remains in contact with Price, although Activision says even she may be growing increasingly concerned about how far he is willing to go.
That isolation pushes Price toward one of the campaign’s more surprising alliances. Valeria Garza, also known as El Sin Nombre and leader of the Las Almas Cartel, is shown working alongside him despite their previous rivalry. Activision describes the partnership as one born from necessity, with Price forced to rely on former enemies as he pursues a threat larger than the conflict surrounding Task Force 141.
The new footage also returns to the war on the Korean Peninsula, where North Korea has launched a full-scale invasion of South Korea. Private Park Hyun Jun and his squad are among the South Korean soldiers fighting back, while joint US and Republic of Korea Marine forces take part in ground combat and amphibious operations. Earlier campaign details established that Modern Warfare 4 will move between several international locations, including Korea, New York, Paris and Mumbai.
A second major thread centers on a currently unidentified weapon being transported to an antagonist called the Archer. Laswell warns in the trailer that the weapon could have severe consequences if it reaches its destination, but Activision is deliberately withholding both its capabilities and the Archer’s larger objective. The combination of Price’s off-book operation and the Korean invasion appears set to bring those otherwise separate conflicts together as the campaign develops.
The trailer debuted as part of the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast, where Microsoft had promised new gameplay and TGS-specific content. Activision had already confirmed ahead of the event that a new Modern Warfare 4 campaign trailer would premiere during the showcase, making the presentation one of the major first-party updates for the game before launch.
Campaign early access begins October 16 for players who digitally pre-order either the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition. Activision says the benefit applies across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. The full game then launches globally on October 23.
Modern Warfare 4 will also include multiplayer and a rebuilt DMZ experience alongside its single-player campaign. Activision has already been preparing the broader Call of Duty ecosystem for the release, including a reorganization of Black Ops 7 and Warzone installation files intended to reduce their total storage footprint while preparing for Modern Warfare 4 integration.
The Tokyo Game Show trailer does not reveal the identity of the Archer or explain the nature of the weapon at the center of the campaign, but it significantly clarifies the relationships driving the story. Price is now being hunted by former allies while cooperating with Valeria, the Korean Peninsula is descending into full-scale war, and both threads are being connected by a threat capable of affecting the wider global conflict. Players with campaign early access will be able to see how those storylines converge starting October 16.
