Studio IGGYMOB has released a new action trailer for Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat, offering a closer look at how the rebuilt version is changing the 2022 third-person shooter. The footage focuses on the game’s updated combat, including new parry and parry counter mechanics, expanded close-range attacks and the familiar heavy gunplay built around Beyond the Grave. Blood Heat is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The new combat system is designed to make Grave more aggressive and responsive at close range rather than relying primarily on sustained gunfire. Parries can now be used to turn enemy attacks back on opponents, while successful counters flow directly into follow-up attacks. The trailer also shows Grave using additional melee options alongside his Cerberus pistols and EVO-Coffin, broadening the ways players can maintain momentum in crowded encounters.

Studio IGGYMOB says Blood Heat has been fully rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 rather than simply remastered. Character models, backgrounds, effects and cinematics have all been reworked, while movement has shifted from the original game’s eight-direction control system to full 360-degree movement. The studio is also targeting faster pacing and stronger impact across both animations and combat interactions.

Enemy behavior has been overhauled as part of the rebuild as well. IGGYMOB says enemy AI has been improved and the number of combat variations has been expanded, with encounters designed to make better use of Blood Heat’s new defensive and close-range mechanics. Environmental interactions have also been added, giving Grave more ways to engage with stages and objects instead of treating each area purely as a shooting corridor.

The trailer reinforces that Blood Heat is intended as a more substantial reconstruction of Gungrave G.O.R.E rather than a visual refresh. The original 2022 release mixed third-person shooting with martial arts and heavy melee attacks, but the new version places more emphasis on chaining parries, executions, combos and other aggressive actions. Earlier playable builds described a gauge system that rewards sustained offensive play and feeds into Grave’s powerful Demolition Shot.

That broader focus on modernized combat puts Blood Heat alongside other current action games refining close-range systems around counters and mobility. Titles such as Mega Man: Dual Override have likewise emphasized new close-range mechanics, while Raji : Kaliyuga is expanding its combat through additional powers and character abilities. Blood Heat’s approach is different in execution, but the new trailer makes clear that IGGYMOB is similarly using its rebuild to rethink moment-to-moment combat rather than preserving the original systems unchanged.

The visual presentation has also been significantly revised. Beyond the Grave has received a new design created by Gungrave creator Yasuhiro Nightow, while the rebuild introduces characters that did not appear in the previous game. Studio IGGYMOB says the upgraded cinematics, effects and environmental detail are intended to preserve the series’ exaggerated “bullet ballet” identity while bringing the presentation closer to current hardware standards.

Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat was originally announced in September 2025 as a complete rebuild of Gungrave G.O.R.E. The project retains the series’ mix of gun kata, oversized weapons and stylized violence but reworks the underlying systems around movement, combat flow and enemy behavior. The new action trailer is the clearest demonstration so far of how extensively the moment-to-moment gameplay has changed.

Studio IGGYMOB has not yet announced a specific release date beyond 2026. Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store.
