Edge of Memories will launch on November 5, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Publisher Nacon and developer Midgar Studio announced the release date during Tokyo Game Show 2026, replacing the game’s previous Q4 2026 window with a firm launch date. Pre-orders are also opening with a Legacy Costume Pack included as a bonus.

The action RPG is set in Heryon, the same universe as Midgar Studio’s Edge of Eternity, but follows a new cast and story on the continent of Avaris. Players control Eline, an itinerant Soul Whisperer trying to stop the spread of the Corrosion, an affliction that mutates people, wildlife and the environment into increasingly grotesque forms. She travels alongside Ysoris and Kanta as the group searches for a way to control the destructive force before Avaris is consumed.

Combat is built around real-time action rather than the turn-based systems traditionally associated with many JRPGs. Eline can chain rapid attacks with heavier techniques while calling on her companions’ abilities to extend combos or deal additional damage at key moments. She can also enter a Berserker state, transforming her combat style and gaining access to more powerful attacks and execution sequences.

Exploration is another major part of the game, with Avaris designed around large environments that change as the Corrosion spreads. Previously visited locations can develop new pathways as the story progresses, while Eline can use a Nekaroo mount to travel across the landscape and reach otherwise inaccessible areas. Midgar Studio is developing the game in Unreal Engine 5, with an art direction influenced by Japanese animation and French visual design.

The November 5 announcement arrived alongside a new release-date trailer highlighting the game’s Japanese voice cast. Nacon says the Japanese dub includes performers whose previous work spans games and anime including NieR Replicant, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Frieren. The game will also include an English voice track, giving players a choice between the two performances.

Music is another area where Midgar Studio has brought in established Japanese talent. Cédric Menendez is composing the game’s adaptive soundtrack, while Emi Evans, known for her work on the NieR series, contributes vocals. Yasunori Mitsuda, whose credits include Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade Chronicles and Sea of Stars, is composing the game’s final theme.

Edge of Memories was initially announced in February 2025 with a fall 2025 release target before later moving into 2026. Nacon subsequently positioned the game for a broader 2026 launch window, while the Steam page most recently listed Q4 2026. The November 5 date now gives the project a specific release point across all three announced platforms.

The game has also been through public testing during development, including a Steam Next Fest demo earlier in 2026. Midgar Studio used that period to gather feedback on combat, exploration and the overall action-RPG structure ahead of release. The final PC version currently lists 22GB of storage space, although Nacon notes that system requirements may still change before launch.

Edge of Memories is designed as a standalone entry despite sharing the world of Heryon with Edge of Eternity. New players are not expected to have completed the earlier game, while returning players will encounter familiar concepts and lore from the wider setting. Midgar Studio describes the story as a focused journey without filler quests, with side content intended to contribute directly to characters, relationships or the broader narrative.

Edge of Memories launches November 5, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Pre-orders include the Legacy Costume Pack, while pricing and platform-specific edition details may vary by storefront.
