Housemarque has released the free Zenith update for Saros on PlayStation 5, introducing a New Game+ system, competitive boss-rush challenges, 20 additional gameplay modifiers and expanded accessibility options. The update launched on October 19, 2026, and is available to everyone who owns the game at no additional cost.
The developer confirmed the release in an official PlayStation Blog announcement by Saros: Zenith design lead Abebe Tinari. The update expands the game’s post-campaign content while introducing new ways to adjust its fast-paced combat for players who prefer a less demanding experience.
The two major additions are Eclipse Layers, a New Game+ mode that changes the rules of subsequent playthroughs, and Overlord Rush, a series of boss encounters featuring online leaderboards. Zenith also adds 12 collectible Visions, new progression options, and features such as adjustable game speed and automatic weapon firing.

Eclipse Layers introduces a more demanding version of Saros for players who have completed the main campaign. Once the game has been cleared, additional nodes appear in the Armor Matrix at Passage, allowing players to unlock increasingly challenging Eclipse Layers.
Before beginning a new layer, players must select a combination of Carcosan Modifiers that meets a required difficulty threshold. These modifiers change gameplay conditions, allowing players to determine which additional challenges they want to face.
The system includes 25 Trial Modifiers in total, with players required to activate multiple trials to advance. Different combinations can create more difficult encounters, making modifier selection an important part of preparing for each run.
Zenith expands the existing modifier system with 10 new Trial Modifiers designed to increase difficulty and 10 new Protection Modifiers that make combat more forgiving.
One new Trial Modifier, Hostile Regeneration, changes how larger enemies are defeated. Although these enemies can still be stunned through ordinary weapon damage, they regenerate unless players finish them with a melee attack.
Meanwhile, the new Corruption Melee Enhancement Protection Modifier offers another way to handle Corruption, a mechanic that ordinarily reduces maximum Integrity. With the modifier enabled, accumulated Corruption can be consumed through a successful melee strike to inflict additional damage.
Eclipse Layers also introduces a visual reward for taking on tougher challenges. Arjun wears a Crown and gains a golden glow around his armor, with the Crown becoming larger and more elaborate as players increase their active Trial Modifiers and overall Modifier Balance.
The Crown is connected to 12 new collectibles called Visions, which contain murals and messages left behind by an ancient king. Higher Crown levels are required to reveal additional story text within these collectibles, encouraging players to revisit Carcosa under more demanding conditions.
The second major addition, Overlord Rush, gives players a dedicated mode for fighting Saros’ most powerful enemies without replaying the entire campaign.
Accessible through the Primary Unit in Passage, the mode takes place inside a training simulation where players battle consecutive Overlords while competing for high scores.
Overlord Rush contains three challenge sets. Incursion and Ascension each feature three Overlords and are designed to be completed in approximately 10 minutes. The final set, Totality, combines all eight Overlords into a single continuous challenge.
Integrated online leaderboards allow players to compare their performances globally and against friends. Results can also be filtered by Main Weapon, giving players separate opportunities to compete using their preferred equipment.
An internet connection and PlayStation account are required for the online leaderboard features.
Alongside the new challenges, Housemarque has introduced several accessibility and control improvements intended to make Saros more approachable.
The new Slow Game Speed option allows players to reduce the pace of combat without removing enemy projectiles or changing their attack patterns. Players can choose how much the game slows down and configure the feature to activate automatically during combat or manually when needed.
This gives players additional time to identify incoming attacks and react through movement, dodging, shielding or parrying while preserving the underlying combat mechanics.
Another addition is Auto-fire, which automatically fires the equipped weapon when the player aims at an enemy. The feature reduces the need to hold down the firing button during prolonged encounters, although reloading still requires manual input. Perfect reloads continue to depend on accurately timed button presses.
Motion Sensor Aiming also allows players to use the DualSense controller’s motion controls for aiming. Combined with the game’s existing button-remapping options, this provides additional flexibility in how players control Arjun during combat. High-contrast visual options are also part of the update’s accessibility improvements.
The Zenith update was initially announced during PlayStation’s September 2026 State of Play presentation, with Housemarque outlining plans for additional replayable modes and accessibility features. The October 19 release makes those additions available to Saros owners.
The update gives players who have completed the campaign new progression challenges, collectibles and leaderboard-based competition, while the expanded difficulty and control settings provide additional options for newcomers.
Saros: Zenith is available now as a free update on PlayStation 5.
