Edia has announced Toshinden Collection for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, bringing the first three Battle Arena Toshinden games to modern platforms in 2027. The collection includes Battle Arena Toshinden, Battle Arena Toshinden 2 and Battle Arena Toshinden 3, all originally released during the PlayStation era. Edia is presenting the project at Tokyo Game Show 2026, where the original Toshinden is available as a playable title from the upcoming collection.

The three games are being brought together as part of Edia’s ongoing effort to revive older Japanese titles on current hardware. Battle Arena Toshinden originally launched for PlayStation in Japan in January 1995, followed by Toshinden 2 in December of the same year and Toshinden 3 in December 1996. The series was published by Takara, now part of Takara Tomy, and became an early example of weapon-based 3D fighting during the transition from sprite-based fighters to polygonal games.

Edia first announced its plans for the series in October 2025, when it revealed that it had signed a licensing agreement covering those three Toshinden games. At the time, the company said it had begun developing modern-platform ports and was targeting releases during fiscal 2026 to 2027, while also stressing that it intended to create more than straightforward reproductions of the originals. The latest announcement now confirms the collection format, its target platforms and a worldwide 2027 launch window.

Toshinden Collection will support local multiplayer with players sharing the same screen, preserving the head-to-head structure of the original fighting games. Edia has not yet detailed any additional modern features such as online multiplayer, rollback netcode, save states, display filters or training enhancements. Pricing and a more specific release date also remain unannounced.

The collection appears focused specifically on the numbered PlayStation trilogy rather than attempting to cover every Toshinden release. That means games such as Battle Arena Toshinden Remix for Sega Saturn, Battle Arena Toshinden U.R.A., the Game Boy adaptation and 1999’s Toshinden 4 are not currently listed as part of the package. For players primarily familiar with the original PlayStation releases, however, the collection brings the core first three games together under one modern release.

Toshinden’s return comes during a broader period of renewed interest in fighting games from the early 3D era. Taito’s Psychic Force 2012 is also returning to modern platforms in 2027, providing another example of a late-1990s 3D fighting game being made accessible on current hardware. Edia itself has increasingly built its catalogue around reviving older Japanese games through collections and modern ports.

The publisher’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 lineup reflects that strategy. Alongside Toshinden Collection, Edia is exhibiting Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes I & II, Psikyo Memories and Super Yanoman Collection, all based around older games being repackaged for newer platforms. Toshinden is particularly notable because Edia’s 2025 licensing announcement specifically tied the revival to the series’ 30th anniversary.

Battle Arena Toshinden was one of the early polygonal fighting games associated with the original PlayStation and distinguished itself through armed combat and the ability to move around opponents in a 3D arena. Its sequels expanded the roster and mechanics as the genre rapidly evolved through the mid-1990s. Although the series eventually disappeared from regular releases, the first three games remained closely associated with the early years of Sony’s first console.

Toshinden Collection is scheduled to launch worldwide in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam. Edia has not yet announced an exact release date, pricing or whether additional features will be revealed before launch.
