Fortnite’s latest Power Hours event is live on October 3 with a Bounty Hunter Sprite-focused ruleset that changes how Battle Royale matches play for a limited time. Epic Games confirms that everyone drops in with the Dual Fiend Hunters during the event, while Bounty Hunter Sprites appear more frequently across the island. The first session begins at 2 PM ET, with a second round scheduled for 9 PM ET.

The headline change is the guaranteed Dual Fiend Hunters loadout. Rather than needing to find the weapon after landing, every player starts with the fast-firing paired crossbows, creating more immediate ranged pressure at the beginning of matches. Epic describes the weapon around lining up targets and firing both shots together, making positioning and timing more important than in a normal opening.

Bounty Hunter Sprites are also much easier to encounter during the event. Epic says the Sprites spawn more frequently and can be leveled up by eliminating opponents, turning them into a more central part of each match rather than an occasional side mechanic. The Sprite itself was introduced as part of Fortnite’s recent Bounty Hunter Sprite content, alongside other Match Override and gameplay changes.

Power Hours also modifies chest loot. Epic says 1-Up Tokens and Portable Extractors may appear from Chests during the event, adding another layer of temporary loot variation to matches. Those bonuses combine with the guaranteed Dual Fiend Hunters and increased Sprite frequency to make the limited sessions meaningfully different from standard Battle Royale.

The October 3 format follows the same broader structure Epic has been using for Power Hours throughout the current season. Rather than introducing a permanent playlist, the developer activates short windows with specific gameplay modifiers, boosted items or themed mechanics. A previous Kingdom Hearts Power Hours event similarly altered normal matches with increased Sprite activity and additional themed rewards.

That structure allows Epic to experiment with stronger modifiers without permanently changing the Battle Royale loot pool or progression balance. Because the events only run for limited periods, mechanics that would otherwise be disruptive can temporarily become the focus of every match. In this case, giving all players the same crossbows and increasing Bounty Hunter Sprite activity should make encounters more predictable in terms of available tools while simultaneously increasing overall combat pressure.

The event is also closely tied to the Sprite system that has become a recurring part of Fortnite’s current seasonal design. Sprites now support several progression and reward mechanics across the game, including the longer-term mastery track tied to unlockable cosmetics. One leaked reward, Pixel Polli for mastering 28 Sprites, highlights how much Epic is building around the mechanic beyond individual Battle Royale matches.

Epic’s official event page lists the first Power Hours session as running for two hours from 2 PM ET, or 6 PM UTC. A second session begins at 9 PM ET, which corresponds to 1 AM UTC on October 4. Players who miss the first window therefore have another opportunity later the same day to try the Bounty Hunter Sprite modifier.

The October 3 Power Hours is ultimately a short-lived gameplay event rather than a permanent balance update, but its rules are substantial enough to noticeably change each match while it is active. Starting everyone with Dual Fiend Hunters, increasing Bounty Hunter Sprite appearances and adding extra chest rewards should produce a more aggressive version of Battle Royale for the duration of both sessions. Once the Power Hours windows end, the game is expected to return to its normal rules unless Epic announces otherwise.
