UNSEEN has released a new 90-second trailer for KEMURI ahead of Tokyo Game Show 2026, offering another look at the studio’s yokai-possession action game and its sprawling supernatural city. The trailer, titled “Welcome Back to the Chaos,” focuses on KEMURI City and the paranormal activity that has become part of everyday life there. KEMURI is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5 and PC.

The new footage continues the direction established when UNSEEN gave KEMURI its first substantial gameplay reveal earlier this year. Players take the role of Yokai Hunters exploring a vertical metropolis built around rooftops, alleyways and underground ruins where the boundary between the living world and the afterlife is unstable. The city is designed as both a dense traversal space and the source of the game’s supernatural encounters.

KEMURI’s central mechanic revolves around finding yokai, fighting them and then forming contracts that allow hunters to use their abilities. Those powers manifest as what UNSEEN calls Possession Apparel, altering a character’s appearance and changing how they move or fight. Earlier gameplay showed hunters using different approaches ranging from close-range combat to ranged attacks, talismans and other supernatural techniques.

Another core system is the Foxwindow, a special technique that lets Yokai Hunters see hidden breaks between ordinary reality and paranormal spaces. UNSEEN describes it as a way of revealing things normal people cannot perceive, with the mechanic leading players into yokai realms and anomalies spread throughout KEMURI City. The new TGS trailer continues emphasizing that overlap between familiar urban environments and stranger supernatural layers.

The city itself is presented as a tourist destination sitting unusually close to the afterlife. According to UNSEEN, yokai in this world can come from traditional folklore or take entirely new forms, with some born from lingering human emotions and thoughts. That gives the developers room to mix recognizable supernatural ideas with original creatures designed specifically for KEMURI.

KEMURI can be played solo or in online co-op with up to three players. Even when playing alone, UNSEEN says other hunters and contracted yokai remain present around the player, while multiplayer allows groups to explore the same paranormal spaces together. The studio has also suggested that different players may not always perceive exactly the same things, which could become an important part of how the Foxwindow and co-op systems interact.

The latest trailer arrives shortly before Tokyo Game Show 2026 opens on September 17. KEMURI joins a busy TGS week that also includes major showcases and playable appearances from publishers across Japan, including Capcom’s 40-minute TGS 2026 Spotlight and the playable debut of the new Lollipop Chainsaw game. UNSEEN has not announced a specific KEMURI release date beyond 2027.

The trailer is also notable because it shows the project continuing to move forward after a period of staffing changes at the Tokyo studio. Several senior developers left UNSEEN in recent months, while studio head Ikumi Nakamura acknowledged that the small team has limited engineering resources. Despite that, KEMURI has maintained its 2027 release window and has now received another public showing only a few months after its June gameplay reveal.

UNSEEN is led by Nakamura, who previously worked at Tango Gameworks and PlatinumGames before establishing the independent studio in Tokyo. The team describes itself as an international creative collective, with developers from different countries contributing to KEMURI’s art direction and worldbuilding. The game’s visual style combines manga-inspired presentation with fast action and highly stylized supernatural character designs.

KEMURI remains planned for PlayStation 5 and PC in 2027. UNSEEN has not yet announced pricing, a narrower release window or additional platforms, but the new TGS trailer provides another extended look at the studio’s first major project as development continues.
