Fortnite has expanded its PAC-MAN crossover with new Mecha Ghost mini-bosses and a Blinky-based Sprite that provides a defensive gameplay ability. Bandai Namco Entertainment announced the additions on September 17 as part of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, building on the PAC-MAN locations and references already present around the island. Both the Mecha Ghosts and PAC-MAN Sprite content are scheduled to remain available through October 31, 2026.
The Mecha Ghosts are based on PAC-MAN’s familiar pixelated enemies but appear as larger hostile opponents roaming the Fortnite map. Players can encounter them across the island, with Bandai Namco saying they appear more frequently around the existing PAC-MAN-themed locations. Defeating one awards high-tier Mythic loot, turning the crossover into a combat objective rather than limiting it to cosmetic items.
PAC-MAN’s Blinky has also joined Fortnite’s expanding Sprite system. Epic’s official v42.20 notes describe the Blinky Sprite as a companion that temporarily cloaks the player after they take damage, making them harder for opponents to track. Like Fortnite’s other Sprites, Blinky can be carried during a match and leveled up through normal gameplay to strengthen its benefits.

Bandai Namco describes the Sprite as being based specifically on Blinky’s appearance in the PAC-MAN: Snack Breaks animated series. Its announcement goes slightly further than Epic’s patch notes, stating that the passive effect provides both cloaking and a brief period of invincibility when the player takes damage. Players can acquire the companion by following instructions through Fortnite’s in-game Cheat Panel, while defeating the roaming PAC-MAN Ghosts also provides access to Blinky-related rewards.
The gameplay additions arrive alongside a wider PAC-MAN cosmetic rollout. Fortnite files had already revealed a PAC-MAN Sidekick, Kicks, Pickaxe and returning cosmetics before the official release. Bandai Namco has now confirmed that the limited-time PAC-MAN Sidekick will appear in the Item Shop from September 19 through September 25.
Unlike the gameplay Sprite, the PAC-MAN Sidekick is an invincible animated companion that runs alongside players without directly affecting combat. It includes its own Sidekick Emote as well as recognizable arcade music and sound effects. The shop collection also includes the PAC-MAN Back Bling, which changes between Cherry, Orange and Galaxian visuals as players earn eliminations, plus PAC-MAN Gloves and themed footwear.
PAC-MAN has gradually been integrated into Fortnite throughout Override rather than appearing as a single-day crossover. The island already contains PAC-MAN, Blinky and Pinky-themed areas, while arcade machines and character-shaped clouds appear as environmental references. Earlier datamines had also pointed toward additional PAC-MAN map and maze content, helping establish that the collaboration would extend beyond Item Shop cosmetics.
The Mecha Ghosts also connect naturally to Fortnite’s broader Chapter 7 Season 4 structure, which revolves around gaming-themed collaborations and gameplay-altering systems. The season has already incorporated characters and mechanics from franchises including Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, Crash Bandicoot and Kingdom Hearts, while the Sprite system gives several crossovers persistent effects inside Battle Royale rather than treating them solely as skins.
Epic’s v42.20 update introduced several other Sprites at the same time, including Crash Bandicoot and the community-designed Pond Sprite. Blinky is the PAC-MAN-specific addition, with its defensive cloak distinguishing it from more movement-focused companions such as Crash. Epic has also adjusted Sprite rarity and collection mechanics so higher-rarity Cheat Codes have improved chances of producing variants.
The PAC-MAN gameplay content is available now in Fortnite, with Mecha Ghosts roaming the island and the Blinky Sprite obtainable during matches. The Mecha Ghosts and Sprite are scheduled to remain through October 31, while the PAC-MAN Sidekick and associated Item Shop collection will be available for a shorter window beginning September 19.
