Fortnite’s September 24 gameplay update has activated two new Match Overrides while expanding the current Sprite pool with Bounty Hunter variants and Persona 5’s Morgana. Suppressing Fire gives ranged weapons larger magazines and infinite ammunition, while Health Siphon restores health as players deal damage. Epic Games had already scheduled both Overrides for September 24 in its v42.20 Battle Royale update notes, and they are now part of the live Override rotation.
Suppressing Fire is the more straightforward of the two modifiers. Epic describes it as increasing the magazine size of every ranged weapon while also providing infinite ammunition, substantially changing how players manage sustained fights whenever the Override is active. Health Siphon instead rewards aggression by restoring health through damage dealt to opponents, introducing a different form of survivability from the Recovery Override that creates healing orbs after eliminations. Both were among the Match Overrides uncovered around the v42.20 update, although Epic subsequently confirmed their September 24 rollout itself.
Dataminer HYPEX reports that Health Siphon restores health equal to 10% of the damage dealt to enemy players. That means the effect operates while damage is being inflicted rather than waiting for an elimination, potentially allowing sustained pressure to restore health during an ongoing engagement. Epic’s public description confirms that dealing damage restores health but does not specify the 10% figure, so that exact value should still be treated as information taken from the live game data rather than a separately published Epic balance note.
The hotfix also expands Fortnite’s Sprite system. Bounty Hunter variants are now being rolled into the live pool after Epic announced them for September 24, with the special variants designed around eliminations rather than normal collection progression. Epic says Bounty Hunter Sprites have a chance to appear when players eliminate opponents and normally gain Sprite XP only from eliminations, giving the variant a combat-focused progression route distinct from Gold, Cheat Master and Loot Hacker forms. Reports from the live update put their elimination drop chance at around 7%, although Epic has not published that percentage in its official update notes.
Morgana has also been enabled as part of the Persona 5 content arriving around the crossover. The Morgana healing Sprite improves the effectiveness of healing items, with the benefit increasing as the Sprite levels up. Live file data indicates the healing multiplier begins above the normal item value and scales to double effectiveness at the highest level, which would allow something such as a 50-Shield item to provide as much as 100 Shield under the maximum effect.
That addition extends the Persona 5 collaboration beyond its Item Shop cosmetics. Persona 5 Royal’s Fortnite crossover formally launches its cosmetic lineup on September 25, with Joker, Ann Takamaki and Morgana among the featured characters, but Morgana’s Sprite gives the crossover a direct gameplay component. Health Siphon is likewise associated with the Persona rollout, matching earlier evidence that the collaboration would include a Persona-themed Match Override rather than being limited to skins and accessories.
The September 24 changes therefore affect Fortnite matches in several ways at once rather than simply adding another cosmetic collaboration. Suppressing Fire alters weapon economy and magazine capacity, Health Siphon changes how players recover during fights, Bounty Hunter variants tie Sprite hunting more closely to eliminations, and Morgana strengthens healing items as it levels. Together, the additions continue Chapter 7 Season 4’s Override structure, where rotating match rules and Sprite abilities can substantially change how individual Battle Royale matches play.
