Cyberpunk 2077 has officially gained Xbox Play Anywhere support, allowing players who purchase the game digitally through the Xbox ecosystem to access it on Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, and compatible Windows gaming handhelds without buying another copy. The feature appeared on the game’s official Xbox Store listing on October 21, 2026, expanding how players can access CD Projekt Red’s open-world RPG.
The updated Microsoft Store listing now displays the Xbox Play Anywhere designation alongside Smart Delivery and Xbox Series X|S optimization. Its supported platforms include Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and handheld devices. The listing also identifies the game as Handheld Optimized.
Xbox Play Anywhere allows a qualifying digital purchase to work across supported Xbox and Windows devices using the same Microsoft account. Players can download the game through the Xbox app on PC rather than purchasing a separate Windows version. The program also supports synchronized progress through the Xbox ecosystem, making it possible to continue playing across compatible devices.

However, the rollout may not be fully operational for everyone yet. Although Cyberpunk 2077 is already displaying the Xbox Play Anywhere label and appearing as installable in the Xbox PC app, some attempts to access the game have reportedly redirected players toward Xbox Cloud Gaming instead of offering a local installation. This suggests that availability may still be updating across Microsoft’s services.
For existing digital Xbox owners, the change is particularly significant because it potentially adds access to the native Windows version without another purchase. Windows-based handhelds can also benefit from the shared entitlement, allowing players to install the game directly on supported hardware rather than relying exclusively on cloud streaming. Steam, GOG, and PlayStation purchases are separate from the Xbox Play Anywhere entitlement.
The addition follows Microsoft’s continued expansion of its cross-device gaming program. Other games receiving the feature include The Witcher 3 Remastered, while upcoming releases such as Hope in the City are also planned to support shared Xbox and PC purchases.
The timing also coincides with Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming Update 2.5. CD Projekt Red confirmed that the free Edgerunners 2 Update will arrive on October 22, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release to follow. The update introduces content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 alongside additional gameplay features and improvements.
Cyberpunk 2077 is also discounted on the US Xbox Store, with the standard edition listed at $17.99 instead of $59.99, a 70% reduction. The listing indicates that the promotion runs for another 14 days as of October 21.
The Xbox Store’s updated platform and capability information confirms the new Play Anywhere designation, although players encountering installation issues may need to check the Xbox PC app again as access becomes available across the rollout.
