Hope in the City will launch on November 10, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support and day-one availability through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The date and Xbox platforms were revealed through a new Xbox announcement trailer for Lofty Sky Entertainment’s narrative mystery game. The Steam version had previously remained listed with an unspecified release date.

The game follows 17-year-old Hope Song, who returns home from school to find her apartment ransacked and her parents missing. Rather than waiting for answers, she begins investigating their disappearance herself, using her perspective as an artist to notice details that others might overlook. The story is set in Shenyang, China, where Hope gradually uncovers darker secrets beneath the city’s ordinary streets and neighborhoods.

Investigation revolves around Hope’s sketchbook, which she uses to record observations and turn visual details into evidence. Players gather clues, connect observations into insights and then build those insights into larger breakthroughs that move the case forward. Lofty Sky describes the structure as non-linear, with exploration and deduction working together rather than relying on a fixed sequence of traditional detective puzzles.

The game’s visual identity is also closely tied to that investigative approach. Hope in the City uses a stylized angular art direction across its environments while keeping Hope’s character design softer and more open, creating a contrast between the protagonist and the harsher world around her. Custom cutscenes are used throughout the story as the mystery develops.

Hope in the City has already been available in playable form through a Steam demo. The demo covers the first act and lets players explore streets and back alleys while beginning the search for Hope’s parents. Lofty Sky has also used public playtests and festival appearances to gather feedback ahead of launch.

The project has received recognition during development as well. Hope in the City was selected for Busan Indie Connect 2026 and received nominations in multiple categories at the gamescom dev awards, including Most Innovative Game, Best Sound Design and Most Promising Game. Lofty Sky is also the studio behind Sky of Tides and the animated documentary Eternal Spring.

The new Xbox announcement significantly expands the game’s launch plans beyond the PC release that had previously been the main publicly listed version. Xbox says Hope in the City will support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players who purchase it digitally through the Xbox ecosystem to access it across compatible Xbox consoles and Windows PC with shared progression where supported. The game is also scheduled to enter Game Pass Ultimate on launch day.

That day-one Game Pass confirmation arrives while Microsoft’s subscription strategy continues to attract attention. Recent reporting around a possible 2027 restructuring has already been challenged by reporting that the leaked Game Pass overhaul is not Microsoft’s current plan, while Xbox continues announcing new day-one additions for Ultimate. Hope in the City’s November release is another example of that existing model remaining active in late 2026.

Xbox Play Anywhere should also make the game easier to move between console and PC without requiring separate purchases inside Microsoft’s ecosystem. That feature has become increasingly common across Xbox releases, particularly for games launching simultaneously on Series X|S and Windows. Hope in the City is still listed separately on Steam as well.

The Xbox announcement does not indicate a PlayStation or Nintendo version, and neither Lofty Sky nor Xbox has announced additional console platforms. The current confirmed launch lineup is Xbox Series X|S and PC on November 10, with Game Pass Ultimate support from day one.

Hope in the City will therefore move from its current demo and playtest phase into a full release in less than two months. Players will be able to begin Hope Song’s investigation on November 10, 2026 across Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere and Game Pass Ultimate included at launch.
