A new datamine of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has revealed references to several potentially playable characters, additional story routes, an unused Diadem and a possible Maddening difficulty mode. The findings suggest that Nintendo’s upcoming expansion content could introduce more substantial additions than previously detailed, although not every discovered element has been officially confirmed.

The information was shared on October 26 by Fire Emblem community researcher Aveyn_Knight, who published preliminary findings from the Nintendo Switch 2 game’s internal data. The discoveries include character roster entries, support conversation records, costume data and interface elements associated with content that is not currently accessible to players.

Among the most significant findings are references to Cleobulus, Myson, Anna, Mars, Credna, Kalla and Gladius. According to the dataminer, these characters appear in records suggesting they could become playable. Cleobulus, Credna, Gladius, Kalla, Mars and Myson are specifically referenced in costume data, while all seven names appear in support-related records.

Additional unused names reportedly appear in the game’s roster data, including Chiara, Churness, Jurah, Nomved, Smyrnos and Suarez. However, roster entries alone do not establish whether those characters are intended to become playable units.

The distinction matters because Fire Emblem uses character support systems to develop relationships between units, while costume records can indicate additional character functionality. Finding multiple types of records for the same characters strengthens the possibility of future playable appearances, but does not guarantee their inclusion in an upcoming update.

The datamine also provides clues about the story content planned for the game’s Expansion Pass. Internal references suggest that the additional Flame Lords will receive their own obelisks, complete with individual musical themes and progression-related portraits.

References to both Part 1 and Part 2 story content were reportedly discovered for these characters. One notable exception is Orchel, who currently appears to lack corresponding Part 2 data. It remains unclear whether that portion of her story is unfinished, structured differently or absent from the planned expansion.

These discoveries align with Nintendo’s existing announcement that the third wave of the Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Expansion Pass will introduce new stories featuring Bertrand, Talimun, Orchel and Anatolia. Nintendo has also confirmed that the expansion will add recruitable allies and additional character classes in 2027.

The datamined records offer possible details about how that content could be implemented, rather than independently confirming additional expansion features.

Another discovery concerns a previously unused item called the Diadem of Sagacity. The dataminer identifies it with the Crest of Macuil from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, suggesting another connection between the two games. No other new Diadems were identified in the preliminary findings, and the item’s exact gameplay function remains unknown.

Perhaps the most relevant discovery for players seeking a greater challenge is the presence of interface and text placeholders for Lunatic or Maddening difficulty. These include references associated with completing the game on the higher difficulty setting.

Maddening is an established difficulty option in the Fire Emblem series, typically providing more demanding tactical encounters than the standard settings. Its appearance in Fortune’s Weave data suggests that support for such a mode may be planned, although the existence of interface elements does not confirm that the mode is finished or scheduled for release.

Nintendo has not announced Maddening difficulty for Fortune’s Weave or specified whether it will arrive through a free update or paid DLC.

The game’s Expansion Pass is already being distributed across three waves. The first wave launched in October 2026 with prototype weapons inspired by Heroes’ Relics from Three Houses. The second wave is scheduled for late 2026 and will introduce the gods Aurora, Smyrnos and Jurah as battle allies alongside new outfits. Wave 3, planned for 2027, will deliver additional stories, recruitable characters and classes.

The new findings emerge alongside other Nintendo game-data discoveries, including a Pokémon Pokopia datamine suggesting additional DLC creatures. As with that discovery, internal game assets provide indications of possible future content without establishing final release plans.

For Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave players, the most significant unresolved questions concern which characters will actually become recruitable, how extensively the additional Flame Lord stories will expand the campaign and whether Maddening difficulty will become available. Nintendo has confirmed the broader expansion roadmap, but the specific characters, Diadem and difficulty features identified in this datamine remain unannounced.
