Konami and developer Screen Burn have released update 1.6.0 for Silent Hill: Townfall, introducing a new Hard difficulty mode, rebalanced enemy behavior, navigation improvements, and NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction support on PC. The patch launched on October 28, 2026, and is available for PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
According to Konami’s official patch notes, the update adjusts gameplay across all difficulty settings to accommodate the new Hard mode. The changes affect resource availability, enemy detection, and combat balancing, while several interface and accessibility improvements aim to make the survival-horror experience easier to navigate.
The most significant gameplay addition is Hard difficulty, which provides another challenge level between the game’s existing settings. Konami has also adjusted resource placement in certain sections to create a more consistent difficulty curve.

Enemy hearing sensitivity now scales with the selected difficulty. Enemies become increasingly sensitive to sound at higher settings, changing how carefully players need to approach encounters and manage movement. The update also restricts the reduction in attack severity for an enemy known as The Weight to Story Mode only.
Another notable change makes the player’s current position visible on the in-game map regardless of difficulty. Previously, map assistance varied depending on the selected setting. The adjustment makes navigation more consistent without requiring players to lower their chosen difficulty.
Konami has also revised how the game presents its difficulty options. Players selecting Nightmare difficulty for their first playthrough now receive a warning screen, while the difficulty descriptions provide clearer explanations of what each setting changes.
Several additional interface and accessibility improvements are included. Valve status lighting has been adjusted to improve visibility for colorblind players, and the game now provides additional tutorials and contextual hints. Certain puzzle clues and item descriptions have also been revised to improve clarity.
The Options menu has been reorganized into more distinct categories. Konami has also renamed the control-remapping option to clarify that it supports keyboard and mouse inputs alongside controllers.
On PC, update 1.6.0 introduces an NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction option. The technology uses AI-based reconstruction techniques for ray-traced effects, potentially improving their visual quality compared with conventional denoising methods. However, Konami has not provided specific performance benchmarks or detailed image-quality comparisons for the new option.
The addition gives PC players another graphics setting to explore, following the game’s earlier performance and gameplay updates. Konami’s October 8 patch, version 1.4.0, addressed enemy behavior, progression issues, and PC performance concerns.
The update also includes general improvements and unspecified bug fixes. Players can confirm that the patch is installed by checking the version number displayed in the lower-right corner of the main menu. The current version is 1.6.155963 on PC and 1.6.156035 on PlayStation 5.
Silent Hill: Townfall is available on PS5 and PC. Alongside continuing updates to Townfall, the franchise also has other projects in development, including the reported Silent Hill 1 remake, which has been linked to a potential 2027 release.
