A Fortnite player known as snowslept has reportedly become the first to obtain the Pirate Shop Access reward during a live Battle Royale match on November 1, 2026. The discovery comes with the launch of Fortnite’s Treasure Hunters season and introduces a rare reward that reportedly allows players to claim eligible V-Bucks Item Shop cosmetics for free over a 14-day period.
Fortnite leaker HYPEX shared footage of the discovery, identifying snowslept as the first known player to receive Pirate Shop Access. The player also posted their own footage, expressing surprise at apparently obtaining the reward. Subsequent footage shared by HYPEX showed snowslept activating the Pirate Shop token, providing a further demonstration of the feature beyond the earlier datamined descriptions.
Pirate Shop Access is reportedly available through the Treasure Hunt reward system introduced with the new season. Opening ordinary loot chests in Battle Royale can trigger a special reward instead of standard loot, with possible prizes including exclusive cosmetics and Pirate Shop Access. The reward is reportedly included in the weekly prize pool, although its exact drop probability and any restrictions on the number of winners remain unknown.

Reports also indicate that when a squad member discovers a Treasure Hunt reward, other members of the squad receive it as well. That would allow multiple teammates to benefit from a single successful Pirate Shop discovery rather than requiring everyone to find a separate token.
The main benefit of Pirate Shop Access is its temporary ability to make eligible Item Shop purchases free. According to information shared by Fortnite dataminers, activating the reward starts a 14-day period during which cosmetics normally sold for V-Bucks can be claimed without spending the in-game currency. Eligible outfits, emotes, pickaxes and other cosmetics obtained during that period are reportedly retained permanently, even after the free-access window expires.
However, the reward does not cover everything available through Fortnite. Reported exclusions include real-money purchases, gifting, Battle Passes, pass levels and pass rewards. Sidekicks also have a specific restriction, allowing only one free Sidekick that the player does not already own.
Another significant detail is that winning Pirate Shop Access reportedly grants two separate activation opportunities, one for 2026 and another for 2027. The reported activation window for the 2026 token runs from November 1 through December 15, while the 2027 token can reportedly be activated between January 1 and December 15, 2027.
The 14-day countdown begins when a token is activated rather than when it is discovered. This gives qualifying players some control over which Item Shop rotations they can access without spending V-Bucks. Because Fortnite regularly changes its available cosmetics, activation timing could significantly affect the selection of items a player can claim.
The reward arrives alongside the Treasure Hunters season's new island and One Piece abilities, which introduce a pirate-themed setting and additional gameplay mechanics. The season also features Captain Days events and new weapons throughout November.
Although the reported first discovery and activation are supported by player footage circulated publicly, Epic Games has not independently confirmed every detail of the Pirate Shop system, including its drop rates, availability limits and complete reward restrictions. Those details remain based on datamined information and community demonstrations rather than a comprehensive official explanation.
The discovery nevertheless provides the first publicly documented example of a player obtaining the unusually valuable reward during the newly launched season, moving Pirate Shop Access beyond advance leaks and into demonstrated gameplay.
