Grand Theft Auto VI pre-downloads will begin on PlayStation 5 on November 10, 2026, at midnight local time, Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially confirmed. Players who pre-order the game can download it nine days before its November 19 release, provided they have at least 212GB of free storage available on their console.
The confirmation comes from a November 3 PlayStation Blog announcement by Tim Turi, Content Communications Manager at Sony Interactive Entertainment. The announcement establishes an earlier PS5 download schedule than the November 12 date previously published by Rockstar Games and provides official storage guidance ahead of launch.
Sony states that GTA 6 pre-downloads will become available to eligible pre-order customers starting at local midnight on November 10. Players should ensure their PlayStation account is ready and that sufficient storage space is available before the download window opens.

The 212GB recommendation is particularly significant for PS5 owners with limited available storage. Sony specifically advises clearing a minimum of 212GB, although this figure represents the recommended free space rather than a separately confirmed final installed file size.
The announcement also provides an official reference point following earlier reports suggesting a 210GB PS5 download. That previous figure was based on unofficial information, while Sony’s new guidance directly establishes how much free space players should prepare for the pre-download.
Rockstar’s existing customer support documentation previously listed November 12, 2026, at local midnight as the start of GTA 6 pre-loading. Its online storefront also displayed that date. Sony’s November 3 announcement now confirms November 10 specifically for PlayStation 5, creating a discrepancy with the older Rockstar information.
For Xbox Series X|S players, the PlayStation Blog announcement does not establish a download schedule. Separate reporting indicates that Xbox pre-loading may also begin November 10, but Sony’s confirmation should not be treated as an official Xbox timing announcement.
Players who need additional storage can manage existing PS5 installations or expand their available capacity using compatible storage hardware. Sony’s announcement directs players toward PlayStation 5 storage expansion options, although it does not provide separate download-size requirements for different PS5 models.
Pre-downloading GTA 6 will allow players to install the game ahead of its scheduled release, but it does not provide early access to gameplay. The game remains scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The confirmed pre-download schedule also arrives as attention turns toward the game’s release-week coverage, including unconfirmed reports of a November 18 review embargo. Rockstar has not officially confirmed that reported review timing.
Sony says additional GTA 6 information will be shared as the November 19 launch approaches. For now, PS5 players who have pre-ordered the game can prepare for the November 10 pre-download by checking their available storage and ensuring that at least 212GB is free.
