CONTROL Resonant has officially become the fastest-selling game in Remedy Entertainment’s history, surpassing one million copies sold worldwide within three weeks of its September 24, 2026 launch. The Finnish developer confirmed the company record in its November 3 business review, which also revealed that nearly half of the game’s players are newcomers to the franchise.
The one-million-sales milestone was originally announced on October 15, coinciding with the game’s physical release. However, Remedy’s latest financial report formally establishes CONTROL Resonant as the fastest-selling title in the studio’s history, alongside new details about its audience, regional performance, and remaining sales potential.
Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon highlighted the game’s performance in the company’s January–September 2026 business review, describing the launch as an important achievement for the studio’s publishing strategy. CONTROL Resonant represents Remedy’s first self-published game of this scale, using an intellectual property it owns.

The sequel has also attracted a substantial number of new players. According to Remedy’s analytics, close to 50% of CONTROL Resonant players had not previously played a game in the CONTROL franchise. Expanding beyond the existing audience was one of the company’s primary objectives for the release.
Despite exceeding one million sales, CONTROL Resonant still has approximately 2.4 million outstanding wishlists. Remedy considers these potential future customers an important opportunity for continued sales growth, although wishlist figures do not guarantee additional purchases.
The United States emerged as the game’s largest market across PC and consoles, accounting for nearly half of worldwide sales. On PC, Chinese-speaking regions ranked second, followed by the United Kingdom. Console sales were strongest in the United States, with the United Kingdom and Canada following, while Brazil also ranked among the top three markets by console units.
The game’s reception has supported its early commercial performance. As of November 2, CONTROL Resonant held an aggregate Metacritic critic score of 83 and a user score of 8.8 out of 10. Steam reviews were 91% positive, while PlayStation 5 players gave it an average rating of 4.7 out of 5. The game also won PlayStation’s Players’ Choice poll for September 2026.
Remedy’s financial results reflected the launch’s impact. Revenue for the third quarter of 2026 increased by 226% year over year to €39.6 million, compared with €12.2 million during the same period in 2025. The company recorded an operating profit of €0.6 million, reversing a €16.4 million operating loss in the previous year’s corresponding quarter.
These quarterly figures included preorders and the first seven days of CONTROL Resonant sales, rather than the entire period leading up to its October 15 milestone. Game sales and royalties accounted for €35.3 million of quarterly revenue, although that figure includes Remedy’s broader games business.
The launch also helped renew interest in the original Control. Remedy confirmed that sales of the 2019 game during the third quarter exceeded both the corresponding period in 2025 and the first two quarters of 2026.
CONTROL Resonant launched digitally on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with PC players subsequently gaining another purchasing option through its DRM-free release on GOG.
Remedy plans to continue promoting CONTROL Resonant throughout the final quarter of 2026, focusing on converting outstanding wishlists into purchases. The company has not provided a new cumulative sales figure beyond the previously announced one-million-copy milestone.
The November 3 report confirms that CONTROL Resonant has already established a company sales record while expanding the franchise’s audience. Its performance over the remaining months of 2026 will help determine the full financial impact of Remedy’s first major self-published CONTROL release.
