The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel is still more than two years away from release, according to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier. His latest assessment, shared on November 3, 2026, comes just hours after Bethesda officially revealed the long-awaited RPG’s subtitle. Despite the announcement, Bethesda has not confirmed a release date or launch window.
Schreier addressed the game’s timeline in a Bluesky post following Bethesda’s announcement, cautioning that the newly revealed title should not be mistaken for an indication that the sequel is approaching release.
“Sorry to say this game is still more than 2 years away!” Schreier wrote.

He also reflected on Bethesda’s decision to announce The Elder Scrolls VI alongside Starfield in 2018, suggesting that the early reveal was partly intended to reassure players that the studio would continue developing single-player games despite its shift toward multiplayer with Fallout 76.
Schreier’s November statement reinforces an estimate he shared several months earlier. During a Bloomberg Live Q&A on July 7, 2026, the journalist indicated that The Elder Scrolls VI was still at least two to three years away. His latest comments suggest that the anticipated development timeline has not substantially changed following Bethesda’s official announcement.
Taken literally, a release more than two years after November 3, 2026, would place the game beyond early November 2028. However, this is Schreier’s assessment rather than an official Bethesda schedule, and it does not establish a confirmed 2028 or 2029 launch.
The update follows Bethesda’s official announcement of The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel during the studio’s 40th-anniversary celebrations. The reveal confirmed the subtitle more than eight years after the game’s initial E3 2018 teaser.
Bethesda’s announcement included the game’s new logo and references to Hammerfell, a region of Tamriel that had also appeared in earlier reports about the sequel's setting. However, the studio did not accompany the title reveal with a release date or a detailed gameplay presentation.
Bethesda also acknowledged that further information remains some distance away. In its November 3 statement, the developer confirmed that development continues but cautioned that it would be some time before the studio was ready to share more.
The lengthy wait does not mean development has stalled. In a July 2026 studio update, Bethesda confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI had become its primary development focus, with the majority of its team working on the project. The developer also stated that the game was progressing according to its internal plans and was being played regularly.
For players awaiting the next mainline Elder Scrolls adventure, Schreier’s latest assessment provides additional context for Bethesda’s announcement. The Sentinel subtitle is now official, but a release within the next two years appears unlikely based on the journalist’s comments. Bethesda has yet to provide its own target launch window.
