New leaked images have allegedly offered another early look at Assassin’s Creed Hexe, showing reported protagonist Anika and an unidentified second character. The material remains unofficial, but it adds visual support to earlier claims that Ubisoft’s next major Assassin’s Creed project will adopt a darker, more threatening atmosphere than recent entries.

The images were shared by the Assassin’s Creed leaker known as Rogue. One reportedly shows Anika from behind as she enters a dim, tomb-like interior. Her red hair and muted clothing are visible, although the image quality is too limited to confirm finer character details. A second picture appears to show a large, bald man viewed from behind in a fog-covered outdoor area. His identity and role are unknown, and Ubisoft has not confirmed that either image comes from the game.

That distinction is important because most specific information about Hexe still comes from leaks. Earlier reports connected Anika to the Auditore family and placed the story in Würzburg, Germany, around 1625, during the region’s witch trials. They also described forests, ritual sites, stolen relics, aggressive civilian reporting systems and a greater reliance on stealth. None of those plot or gameplay details has been formally verified by Ubisoft.

What Ubisoft has confirmed is narrower but consistent with the tone suggested by the images. In a franchise update published on March 4, 2026, the company said Hexe is being developed by a veteran team at Ubisoft Montreal and called it a “unique, darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience” set during a pivotal historical period. Ubisoft also confirmed that Jean Guesdon had taken over as creative director while continuing as the franchise’s head of content.

The rumored Würzburg setting would give that darker direction substantial historical weight. The major Würzburg witch persecutions ran from 1625 to 1631 and became one of Europe’s most destructive witch-hunting campaigns. Bavaria’s Historical Lexicon estimates that roughly 900 to 1,200 people were executed across the Würzburg and Bamberg persecutions during their most intense phase. Such a setting could allow Ubisoft to build tension around surveillance, accusation and public fear rather than relying only on conventional battlefield conflict.

The latest images therefore matter less as a detailed gameplay reveal and more as another indication of Hexe’s intended identity. Anika appears isolated and vulnerable, while the second figure introduces a possible threat, ally or authority figure without providing enough evidence to determine which. The dark interiors and heavy fog also fit Ubisoft’s official promise of a more unsettling, story-focused installment.

For now, the leak should be treated cautiously. Ubisoft has not announced a release date, final title, platforms or full cast, and the company said in March that it planned to remain quiet while the team pursued the game’s “ambitious vision.” The next meaningful step will be an official trailer or gameplay presentation capable of confirming whether Anika, the mystery character and the reported witch-trial setting remain part of the finished project.
