Shueisha Games and developer SAYIL GAMES have announced that BAKUDO, their upcoming science-fiction boss-rush action game, is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement on October 28, 2026, was accompanied by an official platform reveal trailer. A PC version is also planned for Steam, although neither platform has a confirmed release date.
BAKUDO combines competitive ball sports with real-time action combat, placing players in futuristic arenas where precision, timing and quick reactions determine the outcome of each encounter. Rather than relying on conventional melee weapons, players use a specialized ball powered by mysterious BAKUDO energy to challenge opponents with different abilities and fighting styles.
The game’s central combat system emphasizes observing enemy movements, recognizing attack patterns and exploiting openings. Players must adapt their ball-throwing techniques to overcome increasingly difficult opponents, with encounters designed around individual boss mechanics rather than traditional team-based sporting matches.

The story follows Yuria, a young student who enrolls at a prestigious academy dedicated to BAKUDO while searching for her missing father. Within the academy, physical ability and competitive success determine social standing, creating an environment where students constantly challenge one another to demonstrate their strength.
As Yuria progresses through the academy, she encounters a group of powerful competitors known as the Eight Stars. Each opponent possesses a distinctive combat style, requiring players to adjust their strategies and carefully time their responses. Her search also leads to the discovery of secrets hidden within the institution, gradually revealing a conspiracy with potentially worldwide consequences.
BAKUDO was originally introduced for PC in June 2025, when Shueisha Games confirmed its publishing partnership with Taiwanese developer SAYIL GAMES. The Nintendo Switch 2 announcement expands the game’s confirmed platform availability beyond Steam.
The game’s PC version already has a Steam store page, where players can add it to their wishlists. A free BAKUDO: Boss Rush Demo was also released on Steam in March 2026, offering an opportunity to experience the game’s combat system ahead of the full launch.
The new platform confirmation adds BAKUDO to the growing selection of independently developed action games headed to Nintendo’s latest console. Other upcoming releases include Buckshot Roulette's announced Nintendo Switch version, although the two games feature substantially different gameplay approaches.
Shueisha Games has not announced a release window, pricing or whether the Switch 2 version will include any platform-specific features. Further details about the game’s launch remain pending.
