Nano Park Studios and publisher iam8bit have announced that Petal Runner will launch on March 8, 2027, for Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. The release date was revealed on October 28, 2026, alongside a new trailer confirming the game’s arrival on Nintendo’s latest console. A free Nintendo Switch 2 demo is also scheduled to become available through the Nintendo eShop later the same day.
The announcement marks the first confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 version for the pixel-art, slice-of-life RPG, which was previously announced for PC. It also establishes an exact release date following the game’s earlier unspecified launch window. Nintendo Switch 2 will be the game’s exclusive console platform at launch.
Petal Runner follows Cali and their fox-like companion Kira as they pursue their dream of joining an elite group of motorcycle couriers known as Petal Runners. Their work involves transporting and installing advanced digital pets across Sapphire Valley, a colorful coastal city built around a solarpunk setting.
Inspired by role-playing games from the Game Boy Color era, Petal Runner combines retro pixel-art visuals with open-world exploration, character interactions and a coming-of-age story. Players travel between different districts on a motorcycle, meet residents, complete deliveries and participate in minigames while learning more about the digital pets they transport.
The game features four distinct districts, each with its own characters, environments and visual identity. Beyond routine courier assignments, players can take on side quests involving unusual mysteries, investigations and other activities. The story also explores the operations of the HanaPets Corporation, the company responsible for the digital pets that play a central role in the game’s world.
Players interested in trying Petal Runner before launch can access a free demo. The PC version has already had a playable Steam demo since March 6, 2026, allowing players to explore the North Valley district, meet digital pets, complete minigames and experience several story-driven activities. The newly announced Nintendo Switch 2 demo extends that opportunity to console players.
Petal Runner joins a growing selection of RPGs confirmed for Nintendo’s newer console in 2027. Other upcoming releases include Threads of Time, the time-traveling turn-based RPG scheduled for Summer 2027, and Tenjutsu, the martial-arts action roguelike also planned for 2027.
Petal Runner is available to wishlist on Steam ahead of its March 8, 2027 release. Pricing for the full game has not been announced.
