LEVEL-5 has released a new three-minute gameplay trailer for DECAPOLICE, showing the playable demo that will be available at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The footage arrives just days after the crime-suspense RPG was delayed from 2026 to 2027 and gives players a fresh look at its investigation, exploration and combat systems. The game is currently planned for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam.

The Tokyo Game Show demo is built around two different ways to play. Visitors can either take on a case-focused section or spend time patrolling the city, giving the public build a broader structure than a single scripted mission. LEVEL-5 says the demo will be available in Japanese at its booth, with TGS 2026 running from September 17 through September 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.

The new footage continues to emphasize DECAPOLICE’s combination of detective work and RPG mechanics. Investigations take place partly through Decaism, a virtual environment that recreates crime scenes and lets players search for evidence, question people involved and build a case. Information is then organized on a Case Board, where players piece together clues and attempt to identify the culprit before moving into the arrest phase.

That structure is designed to make investigations flow directly into confrontation rather than treating detective work and combat as completely separate systems. LEVEL-5 has previously explained that cases move through investigation, deduction, arrest and battle, with each stage feeding into the next. The company has also worked with SCRAP, known for real escape games and other immersive experiences, to help develop some of DECAPOLICE’s case concepts.

The latest TGS trailer gives a more practical look at how those systems fit together when played rather than simply presented in a feature overview. City exploration, dialogue, evidence gathering and battle sequences are all shown within the same demo framework, reinforcing LEVEL-5’s description of the game as a crime-suspense RPG rather than a conventional visual novel or puzzle title. Optional Case Missions will also provide additional mysteries outside the main story.

DECAPOLICE’s Tokyo Game Show appearance comes shortly after LEVEL-5 moved the game into a 2027 release window. CEO Akihiro Hino said at the time that the team knows development has taken longer than expected but is working to deliver what he described as a unique gameplay experience. No narrower 2027 release period has been announced.

The game has undergone multiple schedule changes since its original reveal. It was once planned for 2023 before moving through later release windows, including 2024 and 2026, as LEVEL-5 continued development. The current version is now targeting PS5, Switch 2 and PC, with older platform plans no longer part of the latest announced lineup.

Despite the delay, LEVEL-5 is making DECAPOLICE one of the central playable titles at its largest-ever Tokyo Game Show booth. It will appear alongside Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, Holy Horror Mansion and Snack World: Reloaded, with all four receiving demo stations. Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton is another recently delayed 2027 title using TGS 2026 as an opportunity to put an in-development build in front of players before launch.

The timing gives LEVEL-5 a useful chance to gather direct feedback while DECAPOLICE remains well ahead of release. Although the company has not detailed whether the TGS build will later become available publicly, the demo should provide the clearest hands-on look yet at how its investigation and combat systems work together.

DECAPOLICE is currently scheduled for release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. The new Tokyo Game Show gameplay trailer is focused on the demo arriving at LEVEL-5’s booth when the event opens on September 17.
