Derelikt, the retro-inspired sci-fi survival horror shooter developed by Visuwyg, will launch on PlayStation 5 on November 13, 2026. Solo developer Philipp Jensen confirmed the release date in a November 2 announcement on the official PlayStation Blog, alongside new details about the game’s exploration, combat systems and PlayStation-era graphics technology.
The announcement confirms that PS5 players will receive the game on the same date as its previously announced PC launch. Publisher Hyperstrange and Visuwyg had initially scheduled Derelikt's November 13 PC release, with console versions expected later. The updated PlayStation announcement establishes a simultaneous PS5 release, although an Xbox Series release date remains unconfirmed.
Set aboard Von Neumann Outpost, a research facility attached to a mysterious asteroid orbiting Saturn, Derelikt follows an outside contractor investigating the disappearance of Excavation Team Delta. The investigation takes place inside a deteriorating station where critical systems are failing, survivors provide conflicting accounts of events, and an unidentified drone has contributed to growing tensions among the crew.

Players must explore the facility, gather supplies, solve environmental puzzles and survive encounters with hostile extraterrestrial threats. Although Derelikt features fast-paced first-person gunplay, its survival horror mechanics place considerable emphasis on inventory management, exploration and interactions with other characters.
The outpost contains conventional firearms, experimental weapon prototypes and alien weapons that players can discover throughout their investigation. More than a dozen non-playable characters also inhabit the game, each with individual motivations and secrets. Some characters may provide assistance, while others present additional dangers or complicate the investigation.
Jensen explained that the development team wanted combat to coexist with traditional survival horror mechanics rather than dominate the experience. Resource management, conversations and puzzle-solving are intended to contribute to the tension as players uncover what happened aboard the station.
One of Derelikt’s defining features is its recreation of the original PlayStation’s visual technology. Rather than simply applying a pixelated filter to modern graphics, Visuwyg has implemented several rendering techniques associated with late-1990s console games.
The environments use entirely hand-painted textures and vertex color lighting, a technique that calculates lighting using colors assigned to individual geometry vertices. The game also deliberately incorporates affine texture warping, which produces the characteristic shifting and distortion seen on polygonal surfaces in many original PlayStation titles.
To reproduce the more advanced graphics techniques of that generation, Jensen implemented dynamic geometry subdivision to reduce visible texture distortion. This approach reflects how developers working with the original PlayStation hardware could improve texture stability by dividing large polygons into smaller sections.
Derelikt also features retro-style full-motion CGI cutscenes designed to resemble the prerendered cinematics commonly used in late-1990s games. According to Jensen, the objective was to create a game that could convincingly resemble a lost PlayStation-era release while retaining modern gameplay design.
Players will be able to toggle certain retro visual effects on or off according to their preferences.
Development on Derelikt began in some form in late 2021. The project draws inspiration from classic science-fiction horror games, including System Shock 2, Alien Resurrection and Doom 3, combining their atmospheric exploration and combat influences with a deliberately authentic fifth-generation console presentation.
The November 13 release will bring that experience to PS5 alongside PC. The developer has also confirmed that PlayStation players can preorder Derelikt with a 10% discount ahead of launch.
