Electronic Arts has officially teased the return of EA Sports Fight Night, signaling a revival of its long-dormant boxing video game franchise. The company launched a new EA Sports Fight Night account on X on October 20, 2026, and published an announcement confirming that the series is coming back.
The teaser features a promotional image accompanied by the message, “To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back.” It marks the first official indication of a new entry in the series, which has not received a mainline release since Fight Night Champion launched in 2011.
Although the announcement confirms EA’s intention to revive Fight Night, the publisher has not revealed a release date, target platforms, development studio or gameplay details. It also remains unclear whether the project will be a traditional sequel, a reboot or another type of revival.

The announcement follows years of uncertainty surrounding the franchise. Fight Night Champion, released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, was the fifth major installment in EA’s boxing series. It introduced a story-driven Champion Mode alongside its boxing simulation gameplay, which emphasized punching mechanics, defensive movement and stamina management.
Since that release, EA Sports has concentrated its combat sports efforts on the EA Sports UFC franchise. Its latest installment, UFC 6, launched on June 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The timing is particularly notable given earlier reports about Fight Night’s development history. In September 2026, Insider Gaming reported, citing sources familiar with the project, that EA had cancelled its previous plans for a Fight Night reboot. According to that report, the proposed game had progressed beyond pre-production before work was paused, with the cancellation decision reportedly made around 2025.
That earlier report did not rule out a future return for the franchise. However, EA has not clarified whether its newly teased Fight Night project represents a completely new development effort or a revised version of those previous plans.
For boxing game enthusiasts, the announcement is the clearest official sign in 15 years that EA intends to bring Fight Night back. Players will still need to await a fuller reveal to learn which platforms will be supported, what gameplay systems the new title will feature and when it might launch.
