Archetype Entertainment has released more than 40 minutes of new EXODUS gameplay, offering an extended look at the upcoming science-fiction action RPG ahead of its April 7, 2027 launch. The footage showcases the “Liberating the Kay” mission, featuring combat, exploration, dialogue, branching decisions, and the recently redesigned appearance of protagonist Jun Aslan.
Published on October 28, 2026, the gameplay presentation follows an early-game mission set several hours into the adventure. Unlike shorter demonstrations previously released by the studio, the new footage follows a substantial mission sequence while highlighting how different Paladin and Immortal decisions can change its events.
The mission begins with Jun seeking assistance from Suliman Tenjin, leader of the powerful Tenjin Dynasty. Suliman possesses essential components needed to prepare Jun’s spacecraft for interstellar travel, but obtaining his help requires completing a dangerous assignment.

That assignment takes players to Khonsu, an orbital defense station protecting Jun’s homeworld of Lidon. The station has served as the home of the Kay, a species of Awakened frogs, for generations. However, forces commanded by Jun’s half-brother, Gideon Aslan, have seized control of the installation.
Jun must fight through the occupied station while making decisions that determine the future of the Kay.
A major focus of the demonstration is EXODUS’s morality system, which distinguishes between Paladin and Immortal approaches. Paladin represents virtue and prioritizing others, while Immortal emphasizes ambition and personal advantage.
Archetype demonstrates several situations where these approaches produce different outcomes. One encounter involves a wounded Zealot enemy. Players can surrender a medical pack to help the injured opponent, following the Paladin path, or refuse assistance and pursue the Immortal alternative.
Another encounter involves obtaining a keycard from a Construct guard. Players can purchase the card peacefully or forcibly take it, demonstrating how moral decisions influence interactions beyond traditional dialogue selections.
A more consequential decision concerns Khonsu’s defense beacons. Suliman wants their instructions modified to secure the Kay’s loyalty to his dynasty for generations. Players can accept the arrangement in exchange for his protection or insist on defending Khonsu without placing its inhabitants under his control.
Archetype says the decisions surrounding Khonsu will have lasting consequences, although the full extent of those consequences remains undisclosed.
The footage also provides additional examples of combat and traversal. Jun encounters enemies in zero-gravity environments, uses the Gauntlet’s Petrify ability to overcome a plasma-beam obstacle, and fights alongside companions including Elise and Suliman.
Other highlights include an encounter with Sergeant Lusinchi, exploration involving Celestial Remnants, and interactions with Kay inhabitants scattered throughout the station.
The demonstration also features Jun’s revised male character model. Archetype unveiled the updated appearance on October 22 following community feedback, confirming changes to the protagonist’s presentation while retaining character customization options.
Players will be able to select a male or female version of Jun and customize features including hairstyles, hair color, facial hair, and tattoos. The studio has also confirmed that a more extensive reveal of the female protagonist is planned.
EXODUS is being developed by Archetype Entertainment, a studio established by former BioWare developers. Its emphasis on companion relationships, cinematic conversations, third-person shooting, and consequential player decisions draws comparisons with the Mass Effect series.
The new demonstration arrives as the future of that franchise remains uncertain following BioWare's closure and the cancellation of the next Mass Effect game. EXODUS is a separate project with its own setting, characters, and gameplay systems.
The RPG follows Jun Aslan, a salvager who becomes a Traveler and ventures across the Centauri Cluster. The larger story concerns humanity’s struggle for survival against the Rot, a Celestial virus threatening its existence.
EXODUS is scheduled to launch on April 7, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
