Fortnite appears to be preparing Adam Smasher as an active boss NPC for its Cyberpunk crossover, with newly surfaced game files containing dedicated voice lines and boss music for the character. Dataminer FireMonkey shared both sets of assets on September 16, strengthening earlier evidence that Adam Smasher would have a gameplay role rather than remaining only a cosmetic Outfit. Epic Games has not formally announced the encounter, so the exact release timing and mechanics remain unconfirmed.
The new files build directly on an earlier datamine that identified an Adam Smasher NPC alongside additional Edgerunners content. That leak already suggested Smasher would appear on the Battle Royale island and could drop his own Sprite when defeated. Dedicated boss audio now provides stronger evidence that the NPC is intended to function as a proper combat encounter rather than simply standing around as an interactive character.
Adam Smasher is already part of Fortnite cosmetically. Epic added his Gaming Legends Series Outfit and Shoulder Cannon Back Bling in May 2026 through a collaboration with CD Projekt Red, with the skin also offered to Cyberpunk 2077 buyers through the Epic Games Store. The character later appeared in promotional material for Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, making his inclusion in the season’s wider Cyberpunk content less surprising.
What is new is the apparent expansion of his role into Battle Royale gameplay. FireMonkey’s latest findings specifically identify boss NPC voice lines and separate boss music, assets that would normally accompany an encounter with more structure than a standard roaming character. The files do not, however, establish his health, weapons, attack patterns, spawn location or whether he will appear in every match.
Previous datamining also points to an Adam Smasher Sprite, reportedly codenamed Super Hot, with variant support. According to those findings, eliminating the NPC would cause him to drop the Sprite, creating a direct gameplay reward for defeating him. Rebecca and Arasaka Sprites have also been referenced in the files, suggesting Epic is extending Cyberpunk: Edgerunners across multiple systems rather than limiting the collaboration to cosmetics.
That broader rollout already includes weapons inspired by the anime. Rebecca’s upcoming Exotic weapon was datamined with ricocheting SMG shots and explosive assault-rifle rounds, while Epic itself previously confirmed that Rebecca’s Guns would arrive later during Override. Additional leaked content has included Sprites, Match Overrides and expanded Lucy cosmetics.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners content has also been linked to Fortnite’s faster Blitz Royale mode. A separate Edgerunners Blitz Royale leak pointed to crossover gameplay built around the series, although not every leaked element has been officially confirmed or tied to the same release date. Adam Smasher serving as a boss would fit the season’s pattern of turning gaming collaborations into playable systems rather than simple Item Shop drops.
The character is a particularly natural choice for a boss encounter because he already functions as one of Cyberpunk 2077’s major combat antagonists and plays a central role in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Fortnite has previously used crossover characters as island bosses with unique weapons and rewards, so the presence of dedicated encounter audio is consistent with an established Battle Royale format.
There are still several unknowns. The datamined audio does not reveal whether Adam Smasher will be tied to a specific Point of Interest, a limited-time event, a Match Override or the wider Edgerunners rollout. It is also unclear whether his existing Shoulder Cannon will become usable loot or whether defeating him will reward only the reported Sprite.
Epic Games has officially confirmed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as part of Chapter 7 Season 4 and previously announced that Rebecca’s Guns would arrive later in the season. Adam Smasher’s boss role has not yet received the same confirmation. For now, the dedicated voice lines and boss music provide the strongest evidence yet that Fortnite is preparing players to fight Night City’s heavily augmented enforcer directly in Battle Royale.
