Fortnite’s encrypted Mega Man collaboration has now fully decrypted, revealing the complete cosmetic lineup ahead of its expected Item Shop rollout. Dataminer FireMonkey shared the decrypted set on September 7, with HYPEX subsequently publishing the complete group of cosmetics. The reveal confirms that the three previously hidden outfits are Mega Man, X and Zero, while Rush appears as the collaboration’s Sidekick.
The completed lineup resolves one of the biggest remaining questions surrounding the crossover. Earlier examination of the v42.10 files had established that the package contained three Mega Man-related skins, but the encrypted files initially prevented dataminers from identifying two of them. Speculation had included characters such as Proto Man and Bass before subsequent promotional material began pointing much more clearly toward the Mega Man X series.
Mega Man is joined by X as a separate outfit rather than simply an edit style, while Zero completes the three-character roster. Zero had already appeared in Fortnite’s latest Mega Man teaser, substantially narrowing the possibilities before the files themselves decrypted. X had also been suspected because Fortnite’s Override promotional artwork featured a Mega Buster resembling the version associated with the Mega Man X games.
The decrypted material also confirms Rush, Mega Man’s robotic dog, as a Sidekick. Rush had already been identified through encrypted metadata, but his completed Fortnite model and in-game appearance can now be viewed directly. Footage circulated by dataminers additionally shows a Rush Jet Sidekick emote in which Rush transforms into his familiar flying configuration, continuing one of the character’s long-running abilities from the Mega Man games.
The broader cosmetic package matches the structure exposed before decryption. In addition to the three outfits and Rush Sidekick, the collaboration includes three harvesting tools, two back blings, an emote and a spray. Several of the cosmetics also support alternate visual styles, including options that remove the cel-shaded presentation and give the characters a more conventional Fortnite rendering.
That style support had been visible indirectly through encrypted metadata before the characters were known. The leaked structure indicated that one outfit contained multiple additional styles, another had several style options of its own and the set’s accessories would receive corresponding variants. Full decryption now allows those cosmetics to be associated with the actual Mega Man, X and Zero designs rather than anonymous encrypted entries.
The reveal arrives immediately before Fortnite’s Mega Man competitive events. Epic’s official competitive site now lists Override Series: Mega Man Cup events for September 8, including Duos Battle Royale and Zero Build competitions alongside a separate Solo mobile tournament. Participants can also earn the Override Buster Blast Spray by scoring five eliminations with the Mega Buster, while top-performing players are eligible for additional Mega Man cosmetic rewards.
Those tournaments were initially discovered through datamining, with the Mega Man Cup files revealing its Duos format and cosmetic rewards before Epic’s competitive listings went live. The official schedule now confirms the competition itself, although thresholds and reward availability vary depending on region and event type.
Mega Man already has a gameplay presence in Chapter 7 Season 4: Override through the Mega Buster and other crossover material. Epic introduced the franchise as part of a season built around gaming properties including Sonic the Hedgehog, Persona, Kingdom Hearts, Crash Bandicoot, Pac-Man and Tetris. The cosmetic rollout expands that representation from gameplay items into a full character set spanning both the original Mega Man series and Mega Man X.
The remaining question is the Item Shop timing and pricing. Datamined scheduling has pointed toward September 8 for the cosmetic release, but Epic has not yet published a complete official shop announcement with individual prices or bundle costs. With the encrypted package now fully decrypted and the Mega Man Cup beginning September 8, however, the collaboration’s complete Fortnite lineup is no longer hidden: Mega Man, X, Zero and Rush headline the set alongside its harvesting tools, back blings, emote and spray.
