With less than a month to go before release, one of the biggest details about Ghost of Yotei has surfaced.

According to the reliable PlayStation Game Size tracker, the game will take up 85.119 GB of space on PlayStation 5, with pre-loading scheduled for September 25 ahead of its official launch on October 2. That gives players a full week to download before Atsu’s long-awaited journey begins.

The storage requirement represents a significant leap compared to Ghost of Tsushima. Even with the Iki Island expansion, the original game sat closer to the 60 GB mark, meaning Ghost of Yotei is nearly forty percent larger.

The jump in file size hints at a denser world, more advanced visuals, and deeper gameplay systems designed specifically for PS5 hardware. With a game of this scale, pre-loading becomes essential to avoid long waits on launch day.

Alongside these technical details, Sony has also been ramping up excitement with special edition hardware. Two limited-edition PS5 consoles themed after Ghost of Yotei have been announced, each with a matching DualSense controller and pre-order bonuses.

The “Gold Edition” draws inspiration from kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold, while the “Black Edition” takes after sumi-e brush painting, with bold ink-stroke designs and a striking silhouette of protagonist Atsu.

For those who already own a PlayStation 5, Sony is also releasing themed console covers for both the Slim and Pro models, letting players customize their setup without needing to buy an entirely new system.

The game itself promises more than just eye-catching hardware. From the latest State of Play, it’s clear that Sucker Punch is leaning heavily into cinematic presentation. Returning features like Kurosawa Mode will be joined by new visual filters inspired by Japanese cinema, including “Takashi Miike Mode” for gritty combat detail and “Shinichirō Watanabe Mode” for a more relaxed, atmospheric tone.

All of these details add to the sense that Ghost of Yotei will be a larger, richer experience than its predecessor. The 85 GB install size is a reminder of just how much content is being packed in, but the ability to pre-load a week early should ease the burden for fans planning to play on day one.

With themed consoles, exclusive accessories, and ambitious new presentation styles, Sony is positioning the sequel as a showcase not only for Sucker Punch but for the PlayStation 5 itself.
