Jin Sakai is officially returning as a playable character in Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted, Sucker Punch Productions has confirmed. The Ghost of Tsushima protagonist will be one of four playable characters in the upcoming single-player combat survival mode, bringing back all four of his signature sword stances along with familiar abilities including Ghost Stance and Dance of Wrath. Most Wanted launches on October 1 as part of Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition and its paid upgrade.
Most Wanted is Sucker Punch’s roguelike-inspired take on Ghost of Yōtei’s combat. Players choose a character and accept bounties of increasing difficulty, fighting through waves of enemies and minibosses before confronting a member of the Yōtei Six. Completing runs unlocks perks and upgrades, while higher difficulty versions of the bounties eventually culminate in a final encounter with Lord Saito.
Jin is the fourth playable character in the mode and has been adapted from his Ghost of Tsushima appearance for Ghost of Yōtei’s newer technology. Sucker Punch says its animation and character art teams worked to preserve his original look while upgrading the model for the new game. In combat, Jin uses a katana and retains all four stances from Ghost of Tsushima, allowing players to switch approaches depending on the enemy type they are facing.

His supporting equipment also draws directly from his original game. Jin begins each run with a Sticky Bomb and a hankyu short bow, while his Ultimate ability is Dance of Wrath, which targets multiple enemies and disarms them. His Kill Streak ability is Ghost Stance, temporarily terrifying surrounding opponents and allowing Jin to eliminate a limited number of enemies in a single hit.
The remaining characters are built around different weapon combinations and combat roles. Atsu is the default character and uses dual katana alongside Metsubushi and Blind Bomb Ghost Tools, while her Call of the Pack Ultimate summons two wolves. Oyuki fights with a kusarigama, kunai and tanegashima rifle, while Nagato uses a spear, pistol and both long and short bows.
Character choice is only part of Most Wanted’s progression structure. Players collect perks during individual runs covering areas such as weapon mastery, summons, parries, gear loadouts and survivability. Mon earned through play can then be spent outside runs on permanent upgrades including techniques, weapons, charms and additional character unlocks.
Cosmetics earned in Most Wanted will also carry into Ghost of Yōtei’s main campaign and the upcoming Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion. That gives the survival mode progression value beyond its own runs, with rewards usable while playing as Atsu elsewhere in the game. Sucker Punch is positioning the mode as an extension of Ghost of Yōtei’s existing combat rather than a completely separate ruleset.
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition launches physically on October 1, while the digital edition is already available for $69.99 and includes the base game, Legends co-op mode, Digital Deluxe content, Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted. Existing Ghost of Yōtei owners can instead purchase the Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99 to gain access to the two new modes when they release.
Players who pre-order the upgrade or purchase the digital Complete Edition by September 30 will also receive an early unlock of the Sakai Armor for Atsu on October 1. The armor is otherwise tied to Most Wanted progression, giving another direct connection between Jin’s legacy and Atsu’s side of the game.
A free October 1 update is also planned for all Ghost of Yōtei owners regardless of whether they buy the Complete Edition content. The patch will add Beauty of Yōtei, a mode designed for freely exploring environments in Photo Mode, alongside new Watanabe Mode tracks, a transmog-style option that separates armor appearance from stats, and a new high-contrast accessibility setting.
Jin’s inclusion is the clearest link yet between Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yōtei at a playable level. Rather than limiting his return to armor, references or a cameo, Sucker Punch is bringing back his original combat identity with all four stances, Ghost Stance and Dance of Wrath intact. Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted launches October 1 globally, with some regions including Asia, Australia and New Zealand receiving the associated patch on October 2.
