Capcom has released a new Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance trailer showing how the Bow will change when using the expansion’s new Boost Bracer. The latest Boosted Action Breakdown highlights three broad upgrades for Bow users: the ability to blast monsters at close range, increased arrow firepower and a moveset designed to remain effective across different distances. The footage is part of Capcom’s ongoing series detailing how each of Wilds’ 14 weapon types will interact with the new system.

The Boost Bracer is one of the major combat additions coming with Ascendance in 2027. Players build energy by staying aggressive during combat, then spend that resource on Boost Drivers or other weapon-specific actions to enter a temporary Boosted state. While active, Boost can strengthen existing attacks, open new combo routes and give individual weapons mechanics that go beyond simply increasing damage.

For the Bow, the latest footage emphasizes flexibility. Capcom specifically describes the weapon as being able to “blast away at close range,” while also receiving boosted arrow firepower and retaining effectiveness across a wider range of combat situations. The trailer shows the hunter combining traditional ranged attacks with more aggressive actions at shorter distances, suggesting the Boost Bracer is intended to broaden how Bow players can engage monsters rather than simply improving shots from afar.

The video also appears to showcase enhanced versions of familiar Bow techniques, including a powerful close-range sequence and attacks that let the hunter maintain pressure after firing. Capcom has not yet published detailed motion values, damage multipliers, input commands or Boost duration figures for these moves. That means the trailer establishes the Bow’s new combat direction, but its final balance and optimal combos will remain unclear until the expansion is closer to release.

The Bow follows the Great Sword as the second weapon to receive its own dedicated breakdown. Capcom previously showed how Ascendance changes the Great Sword, including a forward-moving Boost Driver, explosive charged slashes and the ability to chain offset attacks. The contrast between the two weapons shows that the Boost Bracer is not applying one universal enhancement across the arsenal, with each weapon instead receiving actions tailored to its existing combat identity.

Capcom plans to continue releasing weapon-specific Boosted Action videos through September 15. The publisher has said all 14 weapon types will receive individual showcases, giving players an early look at how their preferred weapons will evolve before Ascendance launches. The rollout also comes shortly before Capcom’s September 16 TGS 2026 Spotlight, where Monster Hunter is part of the company’s broader Tokyo Game Show presence.

Ascendance was announced in June as Monster Hunter Wilds’ major expansion and will introduce Master Rank alongside a new high-altitude region called the Skybound Eyrie. The expansion continues the story of the Forbidden Lands with floating islands, new and returning monsters and the reappearance of Elder Dragons, including Kushala Daora. Players will need to complete the seven-star assignment “Awaking from a Dream” in the base game before accessing the expansion’s story.

Monster Hunter Wilds is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, while a Nintendo Switch 2 version is also in development. Ascendance is scheduled for 2027, although Capcom has not announced a more specific release date. With the Bow now joining the Great Sword in receiving a detailed showcase, the remaining weapon videos should provide a progressively clearer picture of how significantly the Boost Bracer will reshape Wilds’ combat.
