Moros Protocol is coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1, 2026, expanding the sci-fi FPS roguelite beyond its existing PC release. The console versions were confirmed through new store listings and publisher information, with the Nintendo eShop already listing the October date. The game originally launched for PC through Steam and GOG on September 18, 2025.

Developed by Pixel Reign and published by Super Rare Originals, Moros Protocol combines first-person shooting with roguelite progression and survival-horror elements. Players wake aboard the Orpheus, a derelict warship stranded in deep space and overrun by hostile creatures. With no memory of what happened, the protagonist must move through the ship while following guidance from a mysterious voice.

The game is built around repeated runs through environments that change as players progress. Weapons, upgrades and encounters can vary between attempts, while death sends players back to begin another run with the knowledge gained from previous attempts. Pixel Reign cites classic shooters and immersive sci-fi games among its inspirations, while also incorporating roguelite structure and more demanding boss encounters.

Moros Protocol uses a deliberately retro visual style rather than aiming for conventional photorealism. Its environments combine low-poly geometry with pixel-textured surfaces, dynamic lighting and modern rendering techniques to create the appearance of an older shooter running with contemporary effects. The abandoned corridors of the Orpheus are designed to shift between combat arenas, exploration spaces and darker horror-focused sections.

Combat centers on fast movement and weapon switching, with players having to adapt to whatever equipment and upgrades they discover during a run. The roguelite structure means that a reliable build cannot always be recreated exactly, encouraging players to experiment with different weapons and bonuses. Boss encounters introduce a more deliberate challenge on top of the game’s faster regular firefights.

Co-op is also part of the experience. Moros Protocol supports drop-in cooperative play, allowing two players to work through the campaign together rather than limiting multiplayer to a separate mode. The full game can be completed with another player, with both participants dealing with the same shifting levels, enemies and survival-focused progression.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version is currently listed with an estimated file size of around 2GB and supports television, tabletop and handheld play. Nintendo’s store page also confirms cloud save support through Nintendo Switch Online and lists a wide range of supported languages. Super Rare Originals has not indicated that the Switch 2 edition will contain major content differences compared with the existing PC version.

The PS5 release is scheduled for the same October 1 date, giving Moros Protocol its first appearance on PlayStation hardware. The console expansion comes just over a year after the PC version launched and follows continued post-launch updates from Pixel Reign, including fixes and improvements to cooperative play, controller support and progression. The developer has continued maintaining the game while preparing the new console versions.

Reception on Steam has remained positive since launch, with the game holding a Very Positive overall user rating at the time of writing. Players have frequently highlighted its combination of retro shooter design and roguelite progression, while the relatively compact installation size reflects its stylized presentation rather than the large asset footprint associated with many modern first-person shooters.

Moros Protocol will therefore enter October with a considerably larger potential audience. PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 players will be able to board the Orpheus from October 1, 2026, while the PC version remains available now through Steam and GOG. Pixel Reign and Super Rare Originals have not announced versions for Xbox Series X|S or the original Nintendo Switch.
