Capcom has announced that Street Fighter V will be temporarily removed from sale on Steam and PlayStation Store while emergency security maintenance continues. The company confirmed on October 27, 2026, that online-dependent features are currently unavailable on PC and PlayStation 4, although players who already own the fighting game can continue accessing offline content.
The disruption is connected to security enhancements involving PHP, a programming language used by systems supporting Street Fighter V. Capcom is carrying out emergency maintenance to address the issue and plans to suspend digital sales progressively until the necessary fixes are completed.
The company has not announced when online services will return or when Street Fighter V will become available for purchase again.

Capcom initially acknowledged the online disruption in an October 23 Steam announcement titled “Notice of Emergency Maintenance.” The notice confirmed that content requiring online connectivity was unavailable while security improvements were being implemented.
The October 27 announcement expands those measures to include the temporary suspension of new purchases through Steam and PlayStation Store.
For existing owners, the distinction between online and offline functionality is important. Online multiplayer and other features requiring an internet connection remain inaccessible, preventing players from participating in online matches while maintenance continues.
However, Capcom has explicitly confirmed that offline content remains playable. Players can still access supported single-player activities and local offline matches without needing the affected online services.
The company has not provided a detailed breakdown of every affected feature, including whether certain downloadable content or account-linked functions may experience additional restrictions.
The temporary sales suspension also means players looking to purchase Street Fighter V digitally may be unable to do so while the security work remains underway. Capcom described the removal as a temporary measure rather than a permanent discontinuation.
Separately, Capcom’s Resident Evil Portal has also been undergoing maintenance associated with PHP updates, leaving parts of that service inaccessible. The company has not established that the two maintenance operations stem from the same specific security vulnerability.
Street Fighter V originally launched in February 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PC, with subsequent updates expanding its roster and gameplay features. Despite the release of Street Fighter 6 in 2023, the older game has continued to offer online functionality to its existing player base.
Capcom has apologized for the disruption and confirmed that repair work is ongoing. No estimated restoration date has been provided for either Street Fighter V’s online services or its suspended digital sales.
