TANUKI: Pon’s Summer will launch on November 10, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Publisher CRITICAL REFLEX and developer Denkiworks confirmed the release date alongside newly announced PS5, PS4, and Switch 2 versions. The BMX-based adventure will also be available through Xbox Game Pass at launch.
The announcement was made on October 28 during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase, accompanied by a new release-date trailer. The game was originally announced for Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC in September 2024, with a planned 2025 release before being delayed into 2026. The latest announcement establishes a firm launch date while expanding the supported platforms.
TANUKI: Pon’s Summer follows Pon, a tanuki working as a part-time mail carrier in a Japanese-inspired setting. Players ride a BMX bicycle through towns, delivering letters and packages while completing jobs and building relationships with residents.

The central objective is to restore the Great Tanuki Shrine before the annual festival. Players have one in-game month to earn enough money and gather the resources needed to repair, upgrade, and decorate the shrine.
BMX riding is a major part of exploration and gameplay. Players can perform tricks, grind rails, use ramps, and discover different routes through the environment while completing deliveries. Packages vary in size, shape, and weight, requiring different approaches to transportation.
Beyond deliveries, Pon can participate in activities with local residents, including baseball, fishing, sumo wrestling, bug catching, and sushi making. Developing friendships unlocks additional activities and rewards, which contribute toward restoring the shrine.
The game’s locations draw inspiration from four Japanese cities: Kyoto, Aomori, Sapporo, and Beppu. Each area features its own objectives and activities, providing different environments for exploration and BMX challenges.
The addition of PlayStation and Switch 2 versions expands the game’s console availability beyond its originally announced platforms. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also be able to access the game on release day through supported subscription plans.
The November 10 launch adds another multiplatform independent release to the upcoming schedule, following October’s Mouthwashing console release and the multiplatform launch of SULFUR 1.0.
A playable demo of TANUKI: Pon’s Summer is currently available on Steam, allowing PC players to sample the BMX delivery gameplay ahead of its November release.
