Microsoft has begun rolling out an updated Xbox PC app to Xbox Insiders on November 5, 2026, introducing significant performance improvements, redesigned navigation, and new game library features. The company says the application now launches up to 60% faster, while frequently used pages load up to 50% faster.
The announcement, published on Xbox Wire by Jason Beaumont, Vice President of Xbox Experiences, also confirms that Microsoft is expanding its refreshed Xbox web interface to more players and updating Xbox Cloud Gaming applications on supported TVs and VR headsets.
The PC app improvements are among the most substantial changes. According to Microsoft’s internal testing, pages including Home, Store, and Game Pass load up to 50% faster, while in-app windows open up to 65% faster. These figures represent Microsoft’s measured improvements rather than guaranteed performance increases for every user.

Microsoft notes that actual results can vary depending on hardware, internet connectivity, system configuration, and usage. The company has not provided independent benchmark results or identified the exact PC configurations used for its performance comparisons.
Beyond performance, the redesigned application introduces simpler navigation and updated filtering tools for game libraries. Players can organize their collections more easily, locate installed titles, and browse available games without navigating through as many separate sections.
Friends and social features are also moving into the application’s main navigation. Players will have more direct access to friends’ activity, conversations, and Xbox parties, reducing the steps required to connect with other players.
Search functionality has been expanded to display results from multiple Xbox categories in one place. Users can search for games, installed titles, add-ons, and people through a more unified interface.
Microsoft has also refreshed the application’s Home screen, game cards, Settings interface, and animations. These changes are intended to make the software easier to navigate while presenting information more consistently.
The changes are particularly relevant to PC Game Pass subscribers, whose libraries regularly change as new titles arrive and existing games depart. Microsoft’s latest November 2026 Game Pass additions illustrate the volume of games players may need to browse and manage through the application.
The improvements are initially being made available through the Xbox Insider Program. Microsoft has not announced a specific date for a general release of the updated PC application.
The rollout also extends beyond Windows PCs. Microsoft confirmed that its refreshed Xbox Cloud Gaming web experience, previously available for Insider preview, will automatically reach more players over the next few weeks.
The updated web interface introduces a dedicated Library tab that combines cloud-playable games owned by the user with eligible titles accessible through Xbox Game Pass. Players can browse and filter games using categories including recent activity, genre, and supported input methods.
A new desktop mode takes better advantage of larger monitors and PC displays, allowing more games to appear on screen while browsing.
Microsoft has also expanded customization options with dark and light themes alongside five new high-contrast display options. These additions provide more flexibility for accessibility and visual preferences.
The interface changes arrive as Microsoft continues experimenting with different ways to access Xbox Cloud Gaming. Recent pay-as-you-go cloud gaming tests have explored alternatives to traditional Game Pass subscription access, although Microsoft has not tied those pricing experiments directly to this interface update.
Supported smart TVs and VR headsets are also beginning to receive refreshed Xbox Cloud Gaming applications. Microsoft says these updates bring a more consistent appearance and navigation experience across devices while adapting the interface to different screen types.
The company has not published a complete list of supported TV models or VR headsets receiving the latest changes, nor has it provided a specific completion date for their rollout.
For PC users interested in testing the redesigned application, the Xbox Insider Program is accessible through the Xbox Insider Hub on Windows. Meanwhile, players can access the refreshed cloud gaming web experience through Microsoft’s Xbox Play website as availability expands.
The November update forms part of Microsoft’s ongoing changes to the Xbox experience across platforms. Its October 2026 Xbox update introduced separate console-focused improvements, including Mythic Achievements and enhanced Remote Play capabilities.
Unlike those console updates, the latest announcement focuses on PC application responsiveness, game discovery, and more consistent cloud gaming navigation across supported devices.
