IO Interactive has announced a free Starter Pack for 007 First Light, allowing players to experience the James Bond adventure’s opening mission without purchasing the full game. The download is available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, while PlayStation 5 players will gain access on November 10, 2026.
The announcement, made on November 5 by IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios, introduces a new way to try the game before buying it. Players who complete the free content can transfer their progress into the full version if they decide to purchase it.
The Starter Pack includes the campaign’s opening mission, set in Iceland, where players assume the role of a younger James Bond before he earns his 00 status. The introductory chapter establishes the game’s espionage-focused setting and introduces players to IO Interactive’s interpretation of the character.

The mission, titled Against All Odds, follows Bond as he investigates a compromised MI6 drop and searches for a missing scientific team. It provides an introduction to the game’s combination of stealth, investigation and action without requiring players to commit to the complete campaign.
On Xbox Series X|S, the Free Starter Pack is already listed as a separate downloadable edition in the Microsoft Store. The listing also identifies PC compatibility and Xbox Play Anywhere support. Players can find the free edition by searching for 007 First Light in the Xbox Store.
PC players can also access the Starter Pack through Steam starting November 5.
For PlayStation 5 owners, the free download arrives on November 10 through the PlayStation Store. Unlike the existing PlayStation Plus Premium trial, the Starter Pack does not require a subscription and provides access to the opening mission rather than a fixed one-hour gameplay period.
PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can currently access a separate one-hour timed trial of 007 First Light. IO Interactive confirmed that progress from either the trial or Starter Pack will transfer to the full game after purchase.
The distinction gives PS5 players two different ways to sample the game. Premium subscribers can use the timed trial, while the Starter Pack will allow all PS5 owners to experience the introductory mission regardless of their subscription status.
IO Interactive has also announced temporary discounts on the complete game across several platforms. The publisher confirmed the following promotional periods:
PC via Steam receives a 40% discount from November 5 through November 9.
Xbox Series X|S receives a 40% discount from November 5 through November 15.
PlayStation 5 receives a 50% discount from November 5 through November 30.
These discounts apply to purchases of the full game, while the Starter Pack itself is free.
007 First Light originally launched on May 27, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Developed by the studio behind the Hitman series, the game presents an original James Bond origin story centered on a younger version of the British secret agent.
The new Starter Pack follows other recent console promotions offering substantial portions of games before purchase, including the free five-hour Xbox trial for Crimson Desert Enhanced, which also supports progression carryover.
For players considering 007 First Light, the Starter Pack offers access to its opening chapter at no cost, with the option to continue into the full campaign without restarting their progress.
