Epic Games has confirmed a new Fortnite crossover with John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, giving players another way to obtain the Walter Irons Outfit. Anyone who pre-purchases or buys John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando through the Epic Games Store will receive the Walter Irons Outfit in Fortnite beginning September 5, 2026 at 8 PM ET. The outfit will also be sold separately through the Fortnite Shop for a limited period.

According to Epic’s official FAQ, the Fortnite Shop availability runs from September 5 at 8 PM ET until September 12 at 8 PM ET. Epic does not explicitly list the outfit’s standalone price on the FAQ page, although the company says players who buy the outfit first and later qualify for the Toxic Commando promotion will receive a one-time grant of 1,500 V-Bucks instead. That refund structure aligns with the 1,500 V-Bucks price reported by Fortnite dataminer FireMonkey, but the direct Shop price should still be treated as reported rather than independently confirmed by Epic.

The promotion applies to both pre-purchases and purchases of John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando on the Epic Games Store. The game is currently listed there for $39.99, and Epic’s storefront is prominently advertising the Fortnite gift-with-purchase offer alongside the game. Players who qualify will have the Walter Irons Outfit added to their Fortnite Locker starting September 5, provided they are using the same Epic account or have their console accounts linked.

The reward is not limited to playing Fortnite on PC. Epic says the Walter Irons Outfit will also appear on connected PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo accounts once those platforms are linked to the same Epic account. That makes the offer function as an account-level Fortnite reward rather than a PC-exclusive cosmetic despite the qualifying game purchase being made through the Epic Games Store.

Epic has also outlined what happens in a few edge cases. If a player buys Walter Irons from the Fortnite Shop and later purchases Toxic Commando in a way that qualifies for the promotion, Epic says that player will receive 1,500 V-Bucks instead of a duplicate outfit. However, refunding the qualifying Toxic Commando purchase will remove the Walter Irons Outfit, or the 1,500 V-Bucks grant if that was received instead.

The crossover comes as Epic continues using Fortnite cosmetics to connect the game with outside releases and franchises. Fortnite has regularly added licensed outfits through direct collaborations, including [[LINK|https://www.techtroduce.com/ben-10-collaboration-fortnite-april-2026/|the Ben 10 crossover introduced earlier this year]], while the current promotion takes a slightly different approach by tying the reward directly to another Epic Games Store purchase. Epic has also been expanding Fortnite’s wider platform presence, including plans to [[LINK|https://www.techtroduce.com/fortnite-epic-games-store-ios-australia/|bring Fortnite and the Epic Games Store back to iOS in Australia]].

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is a cooperative action shooter developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment. Players form a squad and fight large groups of monsters and infected enemies, with Walter Irons serving as one of the game’s recognizable characters. Focus Entertainment separately confirmed on September 2 that Walter Irons is coming to Fortnite and said the outfit will become available to Epic Games Store owners of Toxic Commando at the same September 5 launch time.

For Fortnite players who do not want to buy Toxic Commando, the limited Shop release provides a separate route to the cosmetic. For those already planning to purchase the game on Epic Games Store, however, Walter Irons effectively becomes an additional Fortnite bonus attached to the purchase, with the promotion continuing for as long as Toxic Commando remains eligible for sale on Epic’s storefront.
