Fortnite Leak Says Mega Man Collab Has Three Skins

Fortnite’s encrypted Mega Man collaboration reportedly contains three character skins rather than a single Outfit, substantially expanding what appears to be planned for the crossover. Fortnite leakers HYPEX and ShiinaBR say the encrypted set contains three skins, three pickaxes, two back blings, one Sidekick, an emote and a spray. Mega Man, Proto Man and Bass are currently considered the likely three characters, although those identities have not been confirmed by Epic Games.

The new information comes from Fortnite’s v42.10 files, which were released with the September 3 update. Epic has kept the upcoming Mega Man cosmetics encrypted, preventing their complete models and names from being extracted through conventional datamining. The reported item counts can still provide an outline of the collaboration, but HYPEX specifically described Mega Man, Proto Man and Bass as the likely skins rather than definitively identifying all three.

Mega Man himself is the safest part of that prediction because Epic has already officially confirmed that Mega Man items and Outfits are coming to Fortnite during Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. Epic’s season announcement lists Mega Man among several gaming franchises receiving Shop content throughout the season, alongside Kingdom Hearts, Persona 5 Royal, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Crash Bandicoot and others. The Mega Buster is also already part of Battle Royale, giving the Capcom series a gameplay presence before its full cosmetic release.

Proto Man and Bass would fit naturally alongside Mega Man if the leaked three-skin count is accurate. Both are major characters from the classic Mega Man series and would allow Epic to build the collaboration around several recognizable designs from the same branch of the franchise. Their inclusion remains speculation for now, however, because the encrypted package has not been decrypted and Epic has not named either character as a Fortnite Outfit.

The reported cosmetic breakdown suggests a fairly extensive release. In addition to the three skins, the files reportedly point to three harvesting tools, two back blings, one emote and one spray. That structure could allow each character to receive an associated pickaxe while some accessories are shared across the broader set, although the encrypted data does not establish how Epic intends to bundle or price the items.

A Sidekick is also included in the reported package. Earlier examination of the encrypted content pointed toward Rush, Mega Man’s robotic dog, filling that role, which would make him a companion cosmetic rather than a conventional back bling. Sidekicks accompany players through Fortnite experiences but do not provide the gameplay advantages associated with Battle Royale Sprites, so Rush’s role would primarily be cosmetic if the leak is accurate.

The timing of the expanded leak is notable because v42.10 has added and exposed several pieces of upcoming Fortnite content at once. The update also refreshed Battle Royale systems and brought back crossover weapons through the latest Loot Hacks pool, while additional encrypted cosmetics remain hidden in the files. Epic frequently decrypts major collaboration assets closer to their scheduled Shop release, meaning the current package could remain inaccessible to dataminers until shortly before launch.

There is still no confirmed release date or pricing for the Mega Man cosmetics. Epic’s official Override announcement only establishes that Mega Man items and Outfits are planned during the season, without identifying the complete roster or providing a Shop schedule. The three-skin count therefore remains a datamined claim, while the proposed Mega Man, Proto Man and Bass lineup carries an additional layer of uncertainty.

If the encrypted package reaches the Shop in its reported form, Mega Man will be one of the more substantial gaming collaborations released during Fortnite Override. Three character skins, multiple harvesting tools and Rush as a Sidekick would extend the crossover well beyond the Mega Buster already available in Battle Royale. The eventual decryption of the set should establish whether Proto Man and Bass are indeed the other two characters and reveal exactly how Epic has divided the cosmetics between them.
