Marvel’s Wolverine has received its launch trailer ahead of the game’s September 15 release on PlayStation 5. The new video was released as Sony and Insomniac Games enter the final stretch of marketing for the single-player action adventure, following a series of recent trailers covering combat, story details, suits and progression systems. The game remains scheduled to launch exclusively on PS5 consoles.

The trailer offers another look at Logan’s violent combat style, with Insomniac continuing to emphasize fast, close-range attacks built around his adamantium claws, physical strength and Rage abilities. Recent official material has detailed how players can combine regular attacks with rechargeable Special Techniques, while Adaptations allow different parts of Logan’s combat performance to be modified. Rage tiers, Adaptations and Special Techniques are among the systems Insomniac has already confirmed ahead of release.

Marvel’s Wolverine follows James “Logan” Howlett after he rejoins Team X three years after leaving the group. Bolivar Trask is targeting mutants, forcing Logan back into a conflict that takes him across several locations around the world. Jean Grey is also involved in the story, while Insomniac has confirmed appearances from characters including Omega Red and Deathstrike.

The game is not an open-world title, with Insomniac instead building a more focused single-player action-adventure. Locations include Canada, Japan and Madripoor, with the studio designing separate environments and set pieces around Logan’s journey. Insomniac carried out extensive location-scanning work in Japan, capturing more than 5.6TB of environmental reference data to help create parts of the game’s world.

Combat remains one of the clearest focal points in the launch campaign. Players can equip four Special Techniques at a time, while dozens of Adaptations modify abilities such as Rage effectiveness, parry timing and survivability. Logan’s Rage meter is split into three tiers, and the system becomes increasingly aggressive as it fills, reinforcing the character’s close-range fighting style.

Exploration includes additional activities outside the main story path. Logan can use Enhanced Senses to locate Nightmare Doors, which contain combat and traversal challenges, while collectible whisky bottles reveal pieces of his past. Material crates can also be found and used toward unlocking additional suits and cosmetic options.

Insomniac has confirmed a large selection of suits inspired by different Wolverine appearances across comics and other media. These include Weapon X, Old Man Logan, Ultimate Wolverine and Patch-inspired designs, alongside the studio’s original Battle Reborn suit. Reports have also pointed to a much broader cosmetic lineup, including a leaked list of 32 Wolverine suits, though unofficial material should still be treated separately from Insomniac’s confirmed selection.

Several post-campaign features will be available around launch as well. New Game Plus raises progression limits and introduces additional Techniques, while Mission Replay lets players revisit sections of the story. Nightmare Challenges provide score-based combat activities, and Photo Mode will be delivered through a day-one update.

Accessibility is another major part of the release. Insomniac says Marvel’s Wolverine includes more than 100 new, returning and improved accessibility features, including global game-speed settings, high-contrast visuals and audio description in English. Players can also adjust the game’s violence and adult-language presentation, including options affecting blood and dismemberment.

The launch trailer arrives after several weeks of increasingly detailed pre-release coverage. Insomniac revealed a dedicated Features Trailer in late August, while earlier gameplay and story presentations established Logan’s allies, enemies and overall mission. Reported preload information has also suggested a substantial PS5 install, with a download size of around 79.36 GB appearing ahead of release.

Marvel’s Wolverine launches on September 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5. With the launch trailer now released, Sony and Insomniac have effectively moved into the final promotional phase before players can access the full game.
