Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 Download Size Reportedly 79.36 GB

Marvel’s Wolverine will reportedly require a 79.36 GB download on PS5, according to new data pulled from PlayStation’s backend ahead of the game’s September launch. PlayStation Game Size, an account known for tracking changes to Sony’s servers, also reports that preloading for the Standard Edition is scheduled to begin on September 8. The game officially launches one week later on September 15, 2026.

The 79.36 GB figure has not yet been published by Sony or Insomniac Games on the public PlayStation Store, so it should be treated as a backend-derived estimate rather than a formally announced final installation size. PlayStation Game Size has built a track record of identifying download information and preload dates before they appear publicly, but file sizes can still change before release through compression, patches or updated builds. Players may therefore want to leave additional storage available beyond the reported figure.

Sony’s official PlayStation Store listing independently confirms several other details surrounding the release. Marvel’s Wolverine launches on September 15 for PS5, with the Standard Edition priced at $69.99 in the United States and the Digital Deluxe Edition available for $79.99. The game is also listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced, although Sony and Insomniac have not yet detailed the exact resolution, frame-rate or visual improvements players can expect from the enhanced version.

The reported September 8 preload date would give digital buyers seven days to download the game before release. That window is consistent with the type of advance preload Sony provides for some major first-party launches, although PlayStation has not publicly confirmed Wolverine’s preload schedule at the time of writing. The PlayStation Store currently lists the game for preorder but does not display the 79.36 GB download requirement on its public-facing page.

Insomniac has continued to reveal more about the game as launch approaches. A new features trailer released on August 28 highlighted Wolverine’s close-range combat, critical strikes and several post-game systems available through Logan’s Nightmare Cabin. New Game Plus, Mission Replay, Nightmare Challenges and Photo Mode are among the features confirmed for launch, although Photo Mode requires a day-one update.

Accessibility is also receiving substantial attention. Insomniac says Marvel’s Wolverine will include more than 100 new, returning and improved accessibility features derived from the studio’s previous games. Options include High Contrast visuals, English Audio Description, Global Game Speed and Strong Haptic Signals, alongside settings that allow players to reduce dynamic blood, dismemberment and adult language.

Marvel’s Wolverine is a single-player action-adventure developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment. Unlike an open-world title, the game is designed around a more directed narrative structure while still taking Logan through multiple locations as he investigates his past. Liam McIntyre voices James “Logan” Howlett, with the story also featuring characters including Jean Grey.

The reported file size puts Wolverine within relatively normal territory for a modern first-party PS5 release, rather than suggesting an unusually large storage requirement. Still, with less than three weeks remaining before launch, the backend listing offers players an early indication of how much space they may need to clear. Unless Sony updates the public store listing beforehand, the exact final download and installed sizes should become clearer once preloading begins around the reported September 8 date.
